COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a rich, robust porter, cleverly crafted to integrate the aromas and flavors of espresso coffee malt and bitter-sweet chocolate malt. Inspired by owner Brendan Moylans’ daughter Chelsea, this is an American-Irish Style Porter that dark beer drinkers will love

Dark black body brown head some lacing. Looks nice. Cocoa lactose aroma. Taste is semi sweet some milk chocolate, maybe some dried fruit. But really not very rich or flavourful as you would hope for in a porter. Okay.

On tap at St. Augustine’s, pours black with a reddish tinge and a small tan head. Aroma brings out toasted malt and a touch of dry cocoa. Flavour is quite fruity, with dark fruits, toasted malt and dry cocoa powder. Nicely balanced, with a medium body. Well-constructed porter.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Dark brown color, near black. Some chocolate, some roasted malts, well blended together, but also too mild; mild residual sweetness; not as robust as a Porter is expected to be.
Nice.

Darkish brown with a pale head. Aroma is chocolate, dates, caramel. Medium bodied, thin mouthfeel, slight astringency on the palate. Taste is cheap chocolate, lightly toasted grain.

Bottle at KØ16. Good roasted aroma, mild bread note. Almost black colour, seems cloudy. Fruity and bready flavour. Not very roasted, but has a good coffee note. Dry finish.

On tap @ the brewpub during RateBeer weekend. Reddish brown appearance with a light brown head. Chocolate, caramel, smoke, vanilla, and heavy chocolate in the aroma. Mint and rich chocolate in the mouth. Thin body, moderately sweet, light to moderate bitterness. Ok.

Bottle 65 cl from Lekkerbier. Brown, thick off white head. Aroma has chocolate, some coffee also and roasted malts. malty taste, some choco again, maybe a bit oxidized, it’s a bit empty. Medium carbonation. Short to medium finish, it’s a fair beer but maybe a bit oxidized. (tht 24-10-2015, drank 12-2-2016)

22 oz. bottle. Pours deep brown-black with a 4x humongous spongy foam that takes an annoying amount of time to settle. Nose is cocoa, caramel, oats and a touch of tart berry. Tastes of dry cocoa, lactose and berry with touches of caramel, light ash and espresso. Near-medium body has a little too much fizz. Nicely balanced with a dry-roasty finish. Good beer but over-carbonated for my tastes.
