Craft Clerkenwell Bottle Share. Thanks to Dan. Hazy orange - amber beer, small cream colour head. Palate is softish and slightly viscous, mild fine carbonation. Nice malts - some creamy sweetness, somewhat thick and sticky. Hops are mild skunk, hop spice, mild tropical fruits, more hop spice. Touch of aniseed alcohol. Mild caramel. Smooth finish. A big chewy DIPA I was right in the mood for.
Bottle shared in London - cheers to Daniel. Pours lightly hazy orange-gold with a frothy, off-white head. The nose holds pine, bread, toasted grains, ripe citrus, crackers. Medium to big sweet flavor with obvious alcohol, more crackery malts, lightly faded pine, bread, orange peel. Full bodied, oily, with fine carbonation. Warming finish with some piney bitterness, crusty toast, citrus rind, more alcohol. A somewhat heavy handed DIPA that’s perhaps not at its freshest. So so. No dating on the bottle. The cap is waxed, not difficult to remove, but I would gladly save 1$ and do without wax. It has a beautiful hazy golden color with medium sized head. The aroma is rich with undeniable hop quality, very piney, a bit citrusy and skunky, a hint of cedar wood. Lean body, moderately sweet, hence highly drinkable, also because the alcohol is just a warning feeling; perfect malt canvas, lightly biscuity, and then the hopping appears with piney resins and sweet orange peel, moderately fruity too. Long pleasant final.
Excellent beer, but too expensive.
Bottle split at Clerko tasting, thanks to Danny, 10/09/15.
Lightly hazed orange amber with a decent light beige cap.
Nose is caramel malt, pine, earthy hop presence, melon, orange.
Taste comprises candied fruits, pine needle, caramel malt, light spice, grapefruit, sweet licks, bready.
Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with hop bitterness present.
Ok DIPA in an old skool way.
