Pours an orange-red with a thin off white head. Cloudy beer smells like cherries and apricot. Flavor is alcohol and fruit with a tart dryness. Finish is fruit. Not what I expected in a Scotch Ale. Low maltiness and overly sweet. neepsntatties (1973) - Portland, Oregon, USA - AUG 16, 2010
Had this on tap at the 2010 Oregon Brewer’s Festival Buzz tent. Colour... dark amber with a thin head. Nose... oak, rum, raisins and charred condensed milk. Palate... grain-like up front, followed by vanillin, marshmallow, rum on the mid-palate, and more grain and a hint o’ booze on the finish. boFNjackson (4201) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 23, 2010
Tap @ OBF Buzz Tent... Poured dark amber with a beige head. Aroma of rum booziness, vanilla, and spiced grains. Malty, earthy notes of cinnamon, doughy, pastry-like, with a rich rum sweetness that hinted towards vanilla, with a hop, pine-like balance.
