This beer is just...nice. Very original I would say, but nothing really stands out, just a very interesting take on a scotch ale. The pour is nice, with an off white head on top of the brown body. The aroma is light and full of malty sweetness. The mouthfeel of this brew is thin, but the taste is nice. It is light and sweet with plenty of malt coming through. Nothing to complain about or rave about. For an 8% ABV, and at this price, this is a nice brew of which to have a few JohnnyJ (5569) - San Diego, California, USA - JUN 27, 2006
Not very good. Pours a brown color. Fruit and brown sugar flavors with some bitterness. Not terrible, but nothing I would want to try again. ChazMania (669) - Oceanside, California, USA - JUN 22, 2006
22oz bottle. I have had this a few times, and it’s been good each pour. I just had a Scottish Tennents Velvet which was marginal at best, so having this thick full bodied Ale is a winner. It certainly has the punchy roasty thing and I can taste the alcohol. The finish is lasting and warm.

Ugh. This smelled like copper pennies in moss covered well water. the flavor was slightly better but still had a lot of that pennies and copper stuff. The hops felt drowned and the only true beer-type flavor was the carmel malt that almost saved this beer from being completely bad. stubby (334) - Santee, California, USA - JUN 4, 2006
Rich aroma and mouthfeel. Smoky, not too sweet, but not because it is balanced with hops, rather a malty thick sipper. Many complex sugary tastes showing the glory of the grain. SDbruboy (1863) - San Diego, California, USA - MAY 31, 2006
22 oz. bottle, from BevMo. Wow, can’t believe that I haven’t rated this one yet! Pours a clear deep mahogany color with a small beige head that diminishes quickly to nothing. Aroma is sweet and malty, rich with dark fruits, maple, faint floral notes, and a bit of molasses. Flavor is also predominantly sweet, with more rich dark fruitiness, clover honey, dark brown sugar, a bitter roastiness, alcohol and an interesting astringent finish. Full body and extremely modest carbonation on the tongue. Enjoyable. SoLan (1550) - Florida, USA - MAY 30, 2006
Deep ruby/amber with light tan head. The malt is big, but the smoke and peat are not. They are there but half muted. I love Islay scotch, so I’m always looking for a scotch ale that will reach up out of the glass a punch me with smokey, peaty, scorched earth flavors. Not this one. Brew is lightly sweet, also. Some caramel and nuts. All malt. Full, smooth palate. A nice after dinner drink. Solid, but not aggressive enough on the scotch part for my taste.
