Have you ever eaten a snowcone, and focused on using your spoon more than your straw? So that at the end of the cone, you've depleted the ice, whilst there's still a whole lot of syrup left? Apply that concept to an otherwise balanced beer....and welcome to blarney time.

Bottle at KØ17. Mild vanilla aroma. Hazy dark amber colour. Almost no head. The flavour is quite nutty with a fruity hint. Quite bitter but good for the style. Peppery, even boozy finish.

UPDATED: MAY 22, 2017 Aroma is malt, toffee, fudge, dark fruits and some alcohol. Taste is much the same, and in addition a rather heavy alcohol-spicy note kicks in and mix with the bitterness. This adds up unfavourably so the beer is hard to drink for me.

Brown barley wine with moderate foam. The aroma spreads wide over dried fruits. The taste is rich and offers little berries, but it is also raisin, plum and a little fig that dominates the taste most. A little smoke I think to find towards the end, where comfortable bitter hops keeps the aftertaste for a long time. I suspect it has also been added sugar because it has a smooth syrup sweetness that stretches from the very beginning. An outstanding barley wine that keeps the level among American barley wines fine.
