Snifter from a cask at Dilly Deli. Black color. Impressive brown head. Minimal carbonation, pretty much none. Bitter taste, mostly. Light bitter sweet. Nice light roast, some dark chocolate. Interesting coffee aroma - not too strong or roasty, though. I’d have liked a bit more coffee flavor out of this in the body. It’s more evident in the finish, but the finish a little brief. Fine stout on it’s own, though. The light coffee addition is better than no coffee addition. phaleslu (10673) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - FEB 26, 2013
Draft at Gordo’s, served in a pint glass. Pours a deep brown that’s opaque for the most part but clearer on the edges with a bit of tan film for a head. Decent aroma but the flavor improves upon it; coffee, dark chocolate, earth, and toast. Finishes on a long, bitter coffee note. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a smooth, bitter mouthfeel. Delivers on its promise.
