Draft at Dilly Deli. Pours dark brown to black with a medium sized, creamy khaki colored head. The aroma has roasted malts, grapefruit, citrus, spicy rye and a splash of chocolate. Draft to snifter at the brewery. Looks good; pitch black with foamy beige head. Smells and tastes solid; hops and dark malt with some toastiness and a little spice. Pours very dark brown with a thin, oily light brown head. Aroma is bitter, crisp, rye, pine. Taste is is dry, hints of coffee, baker’s chocolate, a bit chalky, subtle rye notes with a big bitter finish. From the color and the presence of the rye, I was expecting a maltier beer. 5.5oz snifter on tap at the brewery’s tasting room. Good thin light brown head. Really nice earthy piney hop nose. Clear dark brown color. Good crisp and smooth lighter carbonation. Kind of a bigger body. Dry texture. Good bitter taste. Really big earthy piney resiny hops, balanced by some roasted malts. Light coffee, hint of dark chocolate. Was looking forward to this one. Guys at Mt. Carmel described it to me as their "first true hop heads’ beer". Really, my kind of brew

Draft. Poured clear black color with an average frothy light brown head that lasted and produced excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy complex toasted rye, earthy hop and alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a tingly texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid beer.
