12oz bottle poured very very dark brown but not the dark opaque black that some stouts have. Tan fluffy head. Decent aroma with roasted malt. Def coffee flavor with a nut flavor going down with hints of chocolate. Decent stout but a little light for my taste. verymerrymonk (413) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - OCT 30, 2009
Pours a straight black body with a lasting tan head. Big roasted coffee flavor. Dry finish. Pretty solid stout. Schroppfy (2362) - Łódż, Warsaw, Poland; Michigan, Ohio, USA - SEP 3, 2009
Good and roasty, mostly but not completely dry - a little raisiny sweetness but not much. A good hit of coffee. Pours and stays a little still. Coffee acidity shows up in the flavor, ash, not well integrated - separate. Piney hops, for example, are in the taste too. Could mellow. Braudog (6898) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - JUL 3, 2009
UPDATED: JUL 4, 2009 Bottle. The aroma on this big stout is killer ... More coffee than my morning Joe. this drinks with a whoop-ass java overtone, sweetly drinkable. I think I’ve found my favorite Ohio beer. (#3572, 7/3/2009) phaleslu (10889) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUN 30, 2009
12 oz. bottle. Dark brown pour, tan head. Coffee and chocolate in aroma and flavor. Better stout than expected from what is now shaping up to be my favorite Cincinnati brewery.

Bottle courtesy of alexsdad06. Pours dark brown with a thin white head. Smells of chocolate, roasted malt, peppery. Tastes of chocolate, sweet malt, molasses. Spicy finish. Nice! SrSilliGose (3324) - pouring bus, New Brunswick, CANADA - JUN 14, 2009
pours a deep brown with a small tan head. notes of coffee, chocolate. pretty smooth and good. WeeHeavySD (3387) - Portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 24, 2009
12oz recent bonus, I think from Alexsdad06. Pours black with a nice puffy light brown head. Nose is rich and somewhat chocolatly and slightly off. Taste is sweet and some what chocolaty. Something seems off to me, but on some level this is pretty good. alexsdad06 (11222) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - JAN 31, 2009
12 oz. bottle. Pours balck in color with a small tan head that disappears quickly. The aroma is a pleasing mix of roasted malt, mildly sweet caramel, chocolate, and a hint of coffee. The flavor is big roasted malt and black coffee. The chocolate makes its way in as well. This finishes rather abruptly. Medium-full bodied and smooth. I am very happy with this beer especially since it is a small local company. StFun (567) - Indiana, USA - AUG 19, 2008
UPDATED: JAN 8, 2009 What a hell of a beer. Me and the GF picked this one up from Jungle Jims on our last Cincy trip. Bought it mostly just because I’m a growler whore and wanted to try something new. Didn;t have big expectations for this one at all, and figured it would be average at best. Boy, was I wrong. Now, you’d never mistake this for Dark Lord or Expedition or Speedway, but I bet this one would hold its own against ANY of the non-imperial stouts out there! This one is delicious. Very black and rich. Creamy mouthfeel. A strong nuttiness in the aroma and flavor. Fresh coffe in the mix, as well as hints of chocolate and dark candy. Some carmel and roasted barley floating around as well. Nice and thick. Clings to the mouth the way melted chocolate does. Leaves an aftertaste almost like hot chocolate. I was very impressed, and at 6%, drank the whole growler in one setting. Will be getting more for sure next time I am in Cincy!
