Tap. Deeper brown colored adn clear. Decent off white head. Good lacing. Sweet, malty aroma with some peaty smoke detectible. Medium bodied, somewhat coating. Malt again dominates flavor, sweetish with a touch of smoke flavor. Fair to good. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - JUL 26, 2005
Clear copper body with a tan head. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel, light cherry. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel, cherry. Light-medium body, some stickiness. Sham (1844) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 19, 2005
Amber with a creamy head and tan spots of lace. Caramel with a touch of spice. Floral hops and alcohol. The flavor mimics the nose with a little more alcohol apparent. Sweet and malty end. BückDich (5464) - McCall, Idaho, USA - MAR 9, 2005
Sampled draught at Mt Hood Brewing, Government Campnstal (237) - Houston, Texas, USA - DEC 11, 2003
Ruby mahogany color, creamy off-white head, spotty lacing. Nose of sweet scotch and oaky caramel. The hops are nicely balanced with some powerful medicinal phenols. Finishes sweet & tangy. Eh, overspoken, kinda hot.
Just what the doctor ordered after spending most of the day on my a$$ learning how to snowboard. Reminded me of a bock on steroids. Hoping to run into the barleywine on the next trip.

Now this is good scotch. Rich and satisfying, but not one dimensionally sweet like some...slight smokiness is appropriate and fine. Definitely a cold weather, chapped lips kinda beer. erway (1004) - Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA - OCT 19, 2002
Not for everybody but definitely for me. Had it at the brewery and it was fabulous. As rich as anything. Strong alcohol nose and heavy malt flavors. I highly recommend this brewery and the mountain that it sits on. Absolutely beautiful! jskendzel (602) - Washington DC, USA - JUL 15, 2002
Very interesting and complex brew. I had this one at the brewery after a long day of skiing and ice climbing...the small usage of peated malt enhances this brew tremendously. Good balance with very little hop accent; rather, the malt is the showpiece of the beer. Very strong, but the alcohol isnt annoying. Dragon99 (57) - Laramie, Wyoming, USA - NOV 3, 2001
Nice aroma. Very strong ale. Light hops, very malty.
