Pours a clear dark brown body with a thin ring of brown head. The nose is roasty and dry with a bit of burnt coffee and light citrusy hops. The flavor is much the same, very dry and roasty with just enough burnt malt. Lingering espresso finish with a hint of chocolate and tobacco. draught from bar: dark rich color, off white head. Mild smell of roasted malt. Rich flavor of chocolate, roast malt. Crisp, dry finish with ample but not overpowering hop flavors. Full mouth feel.

From the source. Decent pour, looks a bit thinnish for the style. Soft chocolate malts in the nose give way quickly to a fist of roasts. Body is indeed a touch on the undeveloped style, and it does the beer no favors. Decently dry, much less roasty to taste (there’s actually a dearth of flavors overall). Tap. Pours black with a small, fizzy light tan head, short retention with spare lacing. Aroma is roast, coffee, and chocolate malt, prunes, leather yeast and earthy hops.
