Deep roasted malty lactose aroma and taste. Pours dark black. Standard stout but that’s not an insult. Nice mouth feel, not too velvety, but far from weak. Very tasty. Tap at brewery. kramer (6682) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 1, 2015
Pours a clear dark brown body with a thin ring of brown head. The nose is roasty and dry with a bit of burnt coffee and light citrusy hops. The flavor is much the same, very dry and roasty with just enough burnt malt. Lingering espresso finish with a hint of chocolate and tobacco. Lighter bodied with a watery texture and soft fizzy carbonation. Nice Dry Stout, well done to style. Travlr (24841) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - AUG 22, 2014
Draft at the source. Brown color, beige head. Aroma of cocoa, light coffee. Taste is dark bittersweet milk chocolate. Tasty. Braudog (6716) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - DEC 12, 2013
Draft at the brewpub. Expected visuals for a stout. Salty and almost briny like an oyster stout. Best body among the beers we tried at this place. Decent roasty offering, best of the lineup. (#5366, 11/29/2013) Oginme (54) - New Hampshire, USA - DEC 6, 2013
draught from bar: dark rich color, off white head. Mild smell of roasted malt. Rich flavor of chocolate, roast malt. Crisp, dry finish with ample but not overpowering hop flavors. Full mouth feel.

Draft. A typical chocolate/coffee style stout but not quite as full bodied as you would expect. Has roasted coffee flavor with some caramel and raisin hints to it. Not bad, but not one of the better ones I’ve had of this style. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - AUG 23, 2012
Draft. Cola dark-brown body, small beige head. Aroma is moderately sweet, roast, some earthy, light bittersweet chocolate. Taste is moderately sweet, roast, some bittersweet chocolate, earthy, light grapefruit. Medium body, light stickiness. JCB (3999) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - JUL 13, 2012
From the source. Decent pour, looks a bit thinnish for the style. Soft chocolate malts in the nose give way quickly to a fist of roasts. Body is indeed a touch on the undeveloped style, and it does the beer no favors. Decently dry, much less roasty to taste (there’s actually a dearth of flavors overall). Okay, I guess, but given how low-gear this is across the board I wouldn’t have guessed 7.4%. BeerandBlues2 (13323) - Escondido, California, USA - FEB 3, 2012
Tap. Pours black with a small, fizzy light tan head, short retention with spare lacing. Aroma is roast, coffee, and chocolate malt, prunes, leather yeast and earthy hops. Flavor is malt dominant with light hops and medium bitterness, dark fruity esters and a dry finish. Light body and warmth with medium carbonation. TonyDiUlio (664) - New Jersey, USA - JAN 1, 2012
Aroma is robust chocolate coffee malts. Smooth flavor with notes of chocolate. And a delayed coffee flavor.
