On draft at Trophy’s. Pours light golden slightly hazy with an even white head. Aroma of fruit to start with a slight alcohol finish. Taste of apples, a yeasty spice blend, and hints of maybe plum before the bourbon notes kick in for a dry finish. It must not be barrel-aged for very long, as the booze is less noticeable than most BA beers. An odd blend. JPDurden24 (1675) - Chandler, Arizona, USA - JUN 6, 2012
Barrel Aged Version on tap at the Hungry Monk. Hazy golden pour with little to no head. Very boozy flavor, the yeast is hidden, it’s good, but almost too much of the booziness on is version. daknole (11402) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - FEB 24, 2012
Gold pour, white head. Aroma is yeasty, some spice, tartness. Flavor is quite fluffy and nice. Some great spice, yeast, crisp. Would be awesome in the summer! Ernest (7824) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - NOV 19, 2006
Multiple samples, GABF 2006.
Head is mostly diminishing.
Body is light to medium yellow.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with notes of clove, lemon, celery, and grains of paradise.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation.
A surprisingly good effort; the Mudshark advertising looked pretty goofy/cartoony, but this seemed to take the idea of saison reasonably seriously. One of the better examples at GABF 2006. Ratman197 (15376) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - JUL 30, 2006
UPDATED: AUG 10, 2006 On tap @ Mudshark poured a clear light amber with a creamy lasting white head. Aromas of apple, spices and a hint of honey. Palate was light bodied and dry. Flavors of honey, spice and light fruit with a dry bittersweet finish.
