Mühlen Kölsch has been brewed and filled by hand in the traditional way since 1858, in the original building of the Brewery zur Malzmühle at the Hay Market. Only natural, raw ingredients of the highest quality are used: barley malt and a small portion of wheat malt, high-quality aroma hops, spring water and yeast. The combination of ingredients and production using an old family recipe dating back to 1858 imparts the typical, characteristically robust, malty, full-flavored taste to our Mühlen Kölsch.

UPDATED: FEB 3, 2018 This beer tastes way better tapped than bottled. It's an issue that only freshly tapped it can release its full potential and provide a sufficient sensory image. It's very fresh, light in taste and brings a solid hop aroma.

L: -pours a clear light golden with a medium, foamy, white head -high carbonation visible S: -grainy,metallic,toasted grain, spicy T: -grain husk, toasted malt, herbs, spicy F: -medium carbonation -light to medium body O: This was a bit disappointing. It was missing the usual Kölsch yeast esters from other Kölsch Beers. Too grainy for my taste

La tomé de barril. Cerveza marrón oscuro. Espuma blanca compacta y duradera. Gusto ligeramente amargo tirando a las stouts. Me la esperaba más dulce. Cuerpo medio-alto. No es mi gusto aunque es una cerveza de un cierta calidad.

On tap in the brewpub. Pours clear light golden with nice white head. Aroma is fruity, somewhat floral with a bit of yeast and unpleasant cellar. Taste is bitter with spicy hops, malt, grass. Somewhat sour aftertaste.

On tap at Brauerei Zur Malzmühle, Cologne, 10.10.17. Clear gold with a white head. Slightly buttery, candy aroma. Buttery and sweet taste, slightly bitter. Light body, soft fizz, sweetish finish.

Being brought up on Altbier it is hard to be objective on Kölsch. I sampled a number but it didn't quite work for me. AMong those I tried I see Mühlen as one of the better.

UPDATED: AUG 31, 2017 50cl bottle, thanks to Erzengel and ESSS17. Clear golden color with white head. Aroma has malt, grain and herbs. Taste is smooth malty with grains and traditional hops to finish. Nice!

500ml bottle (thanks Karmo). Pale golden color. Small size, white head, stays. Malty, grainy, herbal hops in aroma. Very malty, herbal hops, bit of caramel in taste. Tingly hops in aftertaste. Thirst quencher! Nice one.
