Fairly bright chestnut with a thick head. The aroma is fun - spicy hop, toffeeish brown sugary malts and some minor rustic yeast notes. The palate has a slight wateriness but also toffeeish malts. A little diacetyl slickness on the tongue but you don’t really taste it. Finishes light with more fairly clean dark malt character. wastl (130) - GERMANY - DEC 1, 2007
Bottle. Clear darkl colour. Slightly brown head. Roasted malt aroma of coffee. Fine bitterness in the long finish. Enjoyable. Beershine (5224) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 15, 2009
Draft @ brewpub. Served in thick glass mug, is dark brown with coppery tones and a huge sudsy rocky head. Aroma of cola, chestnut. Lots of character. Not really liquid bread, though. More in the nutty, chocolate vein. Good body. Tasty, is breadier in the flavors than the aromas let on and has a sweet malty molasses finish. Very nice. It’s dark bronze-brown with a creamy head and the aroma has notes of caramel, malt, nuts and syrup. The flavour is moderately sweet with notes of nuts, caramel, syrup, bread and the finish is dry and slightly citrus-like. It’s a nice, dark lager. SirRepsol (158) - Cologne, GERMANY - APR 22, 2013

(swing top bottle) Clear, chestnut coloured effervescent hue with a big and persistent beige foamy head. Light-sweet toast-malty and nutty aroma with herbal hops, including a tinge of metal that fades quickly. Moderately sweet flavour with a light bitterness in the wings, light to medium bodied with a smooth carbonation. Toast-malty, nutty taste with caramel and herbal notes; dryish, sweet-bitter toasty finish with a noticeable hops-character and a lasting aftertaste of caramel/toffee. Swing top bottle. O yeah, it’s dunkel (dark)! Strong licorice aroma. Sweet and malty with grapes, peach and a licorice bite. Some caramelly bitterness. A bit too sweet maybe, but a very nice beer. Papsoe (25063) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - NOV 17, 2006
(On tap) Beautiful, clear mahogany with a warm, reddish hue. Creamy, off-white head leaving some laces. Aroma of roasted malt. Medium body with very roasted malty accents - almost coffeeish. Dry, almost stout-like, with a light bitterness that seems to derive mainly from the dark malts. Nice indeed. 091106 Ungstrup (37317) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - AUG 13, 2007
Draft. A chestnut colored beer with a lazing brown head. The aroma is sweet and very malty with quite strong notes of caramel and nuts. The flavor is sweet malty again with quite strong notes of nuts and caramel, leading to a dry and slightly roasted finish. Quite low level of residual sugar - and very fresh for the style.
