Draft at Tanners. Poured a blackish dark color with a tan white head. Aroma of malt and hops with a hint of chocolate. Taste is thin but smooth with alcohol notes very present. zombywoof (467) - Overland Park, Kansas, USA - MAR 20, 2007
UPDATED: JAN 9, 2008 As good as anything AB does...of course that is a qualified statement. Mild chocolate aroma-roasted malt and paper and watery body. Like Gr8tefulTed, I too had this at Johnny’s Tavern in Overland Park, KS. Not impressed. Gr8fulTed (5) - Leawood, Kansas, USA - MAR 2, 2007 does not count
Anheuser needs to continue working on producing a better stout. I suggest a trip out Portland OR in late July: check out the White Lightning stout.... Mule Kick is now at Johnny’s Tavern in O.P. Fattimus (3) - Sedalia, Missouri, USA - FEB 26, 2007 does not count
Solid Sweet Stout for the general masses, palate should not be confused with that of traditional Stouts. Everything as advertised. StLsportsfan (70) - Hazelwood, Missouri, USA - JAN 28, 2007
Had this on tap at the brewery tour. I often try to support the hometown king in it’s effort to brew better beers. Oatmeal Stout was decided by a ’preferred member’ poll...of which I am a part of. I voted for this.
IT IS GOD AWEFUL!!! I’m not going to waste my time with aromoa, palate, etc...it was BAD. A wasted effort.
...if you’re on the tour, drink two Bare-knuckle Stouts

Draft at the Bier Stube in Moline, IL. Opaque, dark brown with orange highlights. Head was thick, tan, and left a curtain of lace. So far so good. Not much in the way of aroma other than minimal chocolate. Things have started to fall apart. Dry on the tongue with a dominant cardboard-like flavor accented by a hint of roasty malt. Medium bodied, but not a very good oatmeal stout. Too dry, too cardboardy. bigcat03 (329) - Columbus, Nebraska, USA - JAN 23, 2007
Draught from The Pub poured into shaker - Pours deep burgundy red with a 1/2 finger tan head; Chocolate, sweet malts, caramel, maybe a little coffee to the nose; Coffee, light roast and some hops on the initial taste; Oats, mild roast on a dry aftertaste; Watery-medium body; Kinda lively carbonation; Good to see AB branching out a bit. It’s about as respectable as some of the craft brewers out there can do.
