COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Murray’s Angry Man Pale Ale is a classic US pale ale. Australian, English and German malts balance the huge citrus/pine hop aroma and flavour strongly influenced by generous use of US Centennial and New Zealand Motueka and Pacifica hops. A brilliant light-golden colour, Murray’s Angry Man Pale Ale has a full-bodied finish and complex character. This is well balanced with biscuity/toffee flavours from selected caramalts.

From a 330ml bottle on 10/12/2011. This is apparently a replacement for Murray’s Nirvana Pale Ale, and I seen numerous suggestions this is the same beer and simply relabeled. However, this one has a higher ABV, and it does taste different (albeit similar) to Nirvana. The respective labels indicate that different hops are used (Cascade and Hallertau for Nirvana and Pacifica and Motueka for Angry Man). Pours a deep, fairly clear golden with a small head which disappears quickly. Has a nice sweet aroma, with passionfruit, honey and caramel and floral notes present. Flavour wise, it’s sweet and fruity with some caramel malt evident. Finishes with a distinct hoppy finish. A truly excellent APA from one a few consistently good brewers in Oz.

UPDATED: FEB 25, 2012 (bottle) Pours clear golden with little head. Lovely aroma - complex floral and fruity bouquet. Medium body with good carbonation. Beautiful foretaste from the hops with the complex and light floral and fruity notes in the aroma. Solid mid-taste with malts balanced with bitterness. However the finish is a bit soft for a beer like this: the hoppy bitterness that shows such promise earlier does not deliver a long bitter finish. Overall a nice IPA: lovely flavour and nose, but room for improvement in the finish. Rated: saturday, december 24, 2011 Edited Feb 2012 for changes to availability

Rustic sweetness with a nice bitter tang. Dark yellow colour and a thin head. Not bland, not ordinary in taste, worth a try.

Pours a nice golden color, with lots of bubbles and a one finger white head that fades quickly. Aroma is great! Bright citrus, peach, a bit of grass, a touch of malt sweetness and just a hint of spicyness. Taste is lightly bitter on the attack, some sweet malts, a spicy character and a bit of melon on the mid palate, and then a really complex finish. The finish has a definite grapefruit bitterness, which is followed by some lovely biscuity notes, and then changes again back to a more resinous bitterness. A really excellent pale ale with great complexity.

Pours a yellow colour with a very tall frothy white head. Aroma is sweet, citrusy fruits and some spices. Taste is also sweet citrus with some light biscuit, toffee and caramel notes leading to a subtle, well balanced bitter finish. Good job!

Strong fruity hop aroma on the really fresh bottles with a little caramel malt, this translates strongly in the taste which also has a lovely hint of zesty orange with a subtle malt backing. On older bottles the malt is more forward and really quite satisfying, i find the NZ hops kinda funky at times (especially on the older bottles) but it’s definitely enjoyable and makes for a different kind of pale experience. taste lingers on for a good amount of time. Really good beer that isnt afraid to be different.

Wonderful example of a pale ale. Pronounced malt character, biscuity like golden promise perhaps. Nice subtle but fresh and distinguished hop profile with nz motueka and pacifica. How much is a slab??? ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
