Room temperature. Coffee, caramel, some chocolate but very watery. Earthy, smoky, toasty. Mild sweet and bitter. Well balanced. Clear, dark, red brown. Little carbonation. It’s main distinction is that it’s the first Murray’s beer I haven’t liked. The aromas of malted milk, mocha and coffee are promising, but the aftertaste is dominated by an unpleasant astringency and even a slight metallic taste. There are flavours of chocolate, milk and coffee on the front of the palate but really nothing but that horrible aftertaste remains for me. Make it stop. Itsumishi (49) - AUSTRALIA - MAY 27, 2016
From a stubbie, pours dark reddy brown with an off white almost yellow head that doesn’t lace well.
Aroma is your standard porter fare, chocolate, coffee, toast, roasted malts. Yummy smelling but not outstanding.
Taste is burnt toast, coffee, medium bitter at the front with a medium sweet finish.
Palate is pretty awful. Really ruins an otherwise decent beer. Thin, astringent, bubbly. Not how I like my porter.

On tap at Murray’s, pours a deep dark reddish brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted malt and dry cocoa powder. Flavour is laid back, with lots of toasted malt and dry bitter cocoa powder. Dry finish. Light-bodied and rather weak, but pleasant. ngunity (177) - - MAR 18, 2016
From bottle. Poured with modest tan head. Drank easy with basic honest porter flavor. A bit raw, fine though.

Pours a muddy dark brown with nearly no head. Nice roast malt aroma with chocolate, and a bit of caramel. Thin, harshly bitter body. Flavor is cocoa, medium caramel malt, a bit of roasted malt, the faintest amount of coffee. This one was disappointing. Has a pretty decent aroma but the flavor does’t match up. I’m surprised at the reviews, I don’t get much from this beer. It’s described as ’full bodied’ and ’rich’, it’s quite watery. They say ’deep ruby colour’, I see no ruby, it’s Coke in colour, and a ’creamy’ head, no it was thin, fizzy and gone quickly.
I don’t get much from the aroma at all, mild caramel, the taste is also weak but definitely not unpleasant, short finish and not very bitter.
