COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Murray’s Rudeboy Pilsner has a distinctive crisp, fresh hoppy flavour that has made it a favourite among the country’s foodie community.

"The Rudeboy Pilsner is a very elegant lager with a classic biscuity malt backbone and assertive late hop character," says Head Brewer Shawn Sherlock. "It’s traditionally been available draught only, but now the beer is available in the bottle. It has been a real challenge to reproduce the popular draught beer in the bottled format but as a lover of traditional Czech Pilsner I’m really happy with how the bottled Rudeboy Pilsner presents."

The beer pours a pale straw colour with an almost meringue-like head. The intense citrusy aroma and flavour is delivered by the New Zealand Motueka and Pacifica hop blend, which is balanced by sweet Euro malt, and finishes with a refreshing bitterness.

Rudeboy is Murray’s interpretation of Pilsner made vaguely in the Czech style but with a New World twist. It pays homage to European brewing tradition using the old school lager brewing process of cold fermentation and extended conditioning periods, but the extensive late hopping takes this Pilsner in its own direction.

Poured perhaps a tad warm, with a modest off-white head that soon settled and some lace. Color is a clear grain amber with some bubble trails. Aroma has a hint of butterscotch, then it’s malt, fresh beer. Flavor loses the butterscotch, brings out malt, bitter, carbonic tang, all the classic pils qualities in the just right amounts. Also some spice. Body/carbonation are good. Finish is like flavor, taper slow and balanced and is very drinkable. Wish I had more.

From a 330ml bottle on 24/1/2014. Pours a clearish medium golden with small head. Has a pleasant light fruity aroma. In the mouth and you get bready and biscuity malt and sweet stone and citrus fruit, capped off by a medium hop bitterness. Has a fullish body and average carbonation. Doesn’t really present as a typical pilsener to me, but it’s very refreshing and enjoyable brew none the less.

Slightly hazy blond. Aroma of grassy, pee hop. Lots of bitterness, balanced thin malt. The hop is quite heavy-handed.

Tap - pale yellow with small white head. Light malt biscuit aroma, hint of fruit. Some hop on the taste light for a pilsner. Dry lingering finish.

Pours a golden colour with a white head. Citrus in the aroma and taste, taste also joined by a biscuit malt. Nice.

A-- Poured a straw yellow with a touch of haze. A few floaties in the glass and a just under a half a finger head. Decent sticky lacing and a cloud white head. S-- Floral and bready. Good combo. Maybe a bit too perfume like of a smell but the bread does offset it. A little bit of hop and does smell a bit of fresh lemon. More it breathed the more the citrus opened up. T-- Hops jumped right out at me. Bit of pine in the back of my mouth and a little tartness from the lemon. Did not get too much of the bread in the taste, just a small bit of sweetness. M-- Very flavorful. Well balanced and leaves a APA feel in the mouth. A lot of citrus, pine and hop feel for a while after finishing. Nice amount of carbonation and creamy in the mouth. O-- Good session beer

Had on tap at murrays at manly. A decent version of a pilsener, but not as big as some of their other beers. But it’s perfect to have on a hot day sitting on the balcony looking out on to manly beach.

On tap at the Murrays pub, Manly March 2012. Golden with a slight whit head and moderate fizz. Aroma of hay, tropical fruits and a touch of sweet malt. Flavour had more fruit, a touch of jarring butter, leading to a decent bitter finish. Overall, good.

bottled, at the old sando in newtown. much paler than a czech pils and surprisingly bright with a quickly disappearing head; aroma of self-raising flour and white grape with only the faintest hint of saaz; some tropical flavours - pineapple and lychee; with a soft grassy bitter finish; a pretty loose interpretation of a pilsener but pleasant drinking nonetheless
