Black body with lasting tan head. A little bit thick and heavy in the mouth but does taste all right, coffee, liquorice and some chocolate notes.

Bottle. Dark coke appearance with a thin lighter brown head and decent lacing. Toasty malt and licorice with just a touch of chocolate and caramel. Heavy toasted malt flavours with a touch of coffee, cocoa and dry grapefruit like hops. Described as a "Farmhouse Imperial Stout".
Black color, brown head. Alcohol, sweet, roasted, coffee, dry taste. Dry, grainy, alcohol aftertaste. Warming alcohol. Smooth mouthfeel, high dry bitterness. Sweet, malty scent, also light acidic.
A big beer by most standards and best appreciated by the some who like it hot. This is a late-night fireside sipper, with prominent alcohol and a throat-burning swallow. They could strap barrels of this to St Bernards. Impenetrable dark brown with a short but persistent caramel head. Aroma is heavy on chocolate malt - Milo, cocoa powder, some prickly spice and marshmallow sweetness. Thick and creamy. Richly flavoured and yes, earthy. Cherry Ripe, Cointreau and licorice root. As well made as everything Murrays produces. Not a stout I’d want every night but perfect for the cold months. (33cl bottle from Steve’s Cool Booze, Kingsford. BB 2014)

Had this on tap a while ago at a manly Murrays tasting and from memory quite enjoyed it but didn’t get around to rating it. This time I am have it out of a bottle that has had a chance to age a little. Pours black with a creamy lightly tanned head that lingers. Roasted malts and chocolate on the nose with some yeast. Pours black with a light brown head. Aroma is sweet, malt, fruit, raisin, caramel and chocolate. Taste is very sweet and too much alcohol which kind of overwhelms everything with little roastiness or bitterness. (Bottle) Pours opaque black with big tan head. Aroma is subtler than I expected, with chocolate, coffee and slightly earthy notes. This is the fullest bodied beer I have tasted, almost as viscous as a smoothie. It is well carbonated too giving it a very unusual mouthfeel. The taste is full and complex. There’s a lot of sweetness initially, dark toffee perhaps. There’s dark chocolate and coffee and some offsetting fruity tanginess in the background at the start. The high alcohol content is apparent, but not intrusive. There is quite a lot more going on taste-wise but it is rather complex. There’s a very long rich and bitter finish, but the bitterness is not hoppy, more like dark bitter chocolate or black coffee. Overall an extraordinary beer. Definitely not one for everyday. Aroma is lacking, just roasty and slighty alcoholic. Appearance is a beautiful silky black with a tan head. Taste is brilliantly silky with chocolate, spice, hints of coffee, cream and clove, topped off with a clean yeasty tartness. Palate is subtle, bitter, roasty and all very pleasant. Great farmhouse imperial stout.
