3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours pitch black with HUGE amounts of brown head; too much head really. Rich chocolate ice cream aroma. Body is very light for the weight of bitter rum’n’raisin that follows. I guess you could call the body "silky" but the amount of head and lightness of the body means that despite the darkness of the flavours and colours it doesn’t *feel* like a stout, let alone an imperial one. It’s good, but not quite there. But, mmm, in the meantime the very rich chocolatey, creamy aftertaste is very drinkable. A winner on everything but palate.
330ml bottle pours almost black with a slow forming tan head. Subtle dark, earthy aroma with a hint of brown sugar. Tastes of very dark cocoa, espresso and roast malt over earthy, muddy, herbal background. Viscous and textured with no harshness from the 10% alcohol content. Long dark bitter chocolate finish. Dark, dark, dark! DSG (14784) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - OCT 22, 2016
Bottle shared at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks funkwit for this bottle! Black with a brown head. Aroma of roast, coffee, some cocoa, ashy note, dark fruit note. Flavor is quite dry, with a light sweetish note, roasty, coffee, cocoa, ashy note, bitterish finish. Medium to full-bodied. Very good. zvikar (6149) - Ramat Gan, ISRAEL - OCT 20, 2016

From a 330ml bottle on 27/7/2016. Pours the deepest brown with almost no head. The aroma is primarily chocolate and caramel, with some light roasted malt. Flavour wise, it’s big and bold, with lots of dark chocolate, caramel, roasted malt, some dark fruit and spices, finished off by some big hops. the palate is creamy and the carbonation soft. A really well balanced, cohesive and very tasty impy.

Bottle. Pitch black, oily pour, very fine tan head. Really modest yet wonderfully melded aroma, like rum and raisin chocolate, gentle booze, leather, rich and dark. Similar flavour, has a woody earthy malt beneath rich bitter chocolate, plenty of sweetness. Full-bodied, oily mouth-coating texture, long drawn out chocolate bitterness. Really lovely stuff.
