Like the region its from, our all-malt Muskoka Craft Lager is a getaway from the average. Thats because its carefully aged and handcrafted to be uniquely flavourful, yet remarkably easy-drinking. Made from North American hops and malt, and winner of Canadian Lager of the Year, this delicately balanced thirst quencher is the refreshing departure youve been waiting for

Tastes like nothing done well. But still nothing. Smells like nothing. Why bother. Go for their harvest or mad tom.

Can [473ml]. Pours a clear bubbly gold with an average size lasting fizzy white head. Aroma of cereal grain, some vegetal notes, sugar and light grassy hops. Flavour of grain, some corn, light grassy hops and sweet malt. Starts watery with most of the flavour in the light bitter finish. Average bodied. Just O.K., a decent Lager. *Addendum: I find this a bit too sweet for the style.

Appearance: good looking dark golden lager , crystal clear. Mid plus white top with good lace in present. 4-
Nose: sweet malts with grainy character, nothing out of ordinary.5+
Flavor/Palate : Medium light bodied. Mid high carbonation with smooth clean body. Drinkable with approachable malt at finish. Light grassy hop paired. Slightly chewy finish. Drinkable lighter bodied yet well brewed lager.

Bottle (341ml). Via trade with matt7215. Clear light gold, huge diminishing frothy white head - nice lacing. The aroma is not bad - a hint of pvc up front, but plenty of real cereal grain malt and - gasp! - actual light weedy hops. The taste is pretty run-of-the-mill - follows the aroma, but does seem a tad harsh - clean, but harsh. Slightly weak body, a bit chewy, mild carbonation, and a slightly bitter aftertaste - the finish is fairly quick. Decent deck beer if youre sitting in a .... muskoka chair.

Can: Poured a light bright golden color lager with a large pure white foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of crisp light hops and lightly floral malt is quite enjoyable. Taste is also a nice enough balanced mix between some lightly sweet malt with floral notes and light dry crisp hops. Easily quaffable with no brewing flaws. A bit more hops would have been great but still very good overall. This brewer is really improving and providing easily drinkable beers.

473ml can pours a bright golden color with a 2 finger bubbly white head that settles down to leave only small trace of lace on the glass. Aroma is cereal grains and grass. Taste is grainy malt sweetness with a grassy hop bitterness in the finish. A little disappointing compared to the other brews from Muskoka. Only slightly better than a typical macro lager.

UPDATED: APR 19, 2004 (Draught) On tap at Roses Cafe in Ottawa. Medium, rocky, white head with a pale amber body. Little aroma. Much more malt flavour than the crosstown rival SteamWhistle. Below average.

6 pack from my local LCBO. Slightly malty nose, not much hops. Slight evegetal flavour and aroma. All in all for a buck a beer, its one of the better ones ive had. For a basic barebones boring lager, its decent.

Can - 473ml. Golden body with average carbonation and a thin white foamy head. Its malty/hoppy aroma is very thin. Taste is dominated by maltyness and carries bad corny notes. Finish is very short. Very disappointing.
