Bottled sample. Clear orange in colour with moderate carbonation. Aromas are of dried grassy hops, orange peel, and nutty pale malts. A mix of pale and caramel malts start things off in the mouth before the grassy+resiny+mild citrus of the hops takes over. Finishes dry with a sharp bitterness on the back end. I like the overall hop level here, but the grassy quality of them is somewhat over the top. Not bad, but could be much better with a different hop blend. dreamflower (790) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - OCT 21, 2011
Bottle shared with northropfrye. Bitter and citrusy. Lovely burnt caramel colour. Excellent frothy head. Not my favourite, but it’s not bad. A sipping beer. northropfrye (3515) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - OCT 21, 2011
UPDATED: APR 7, 2012 Bottle. Dark reddish brown colour with nice off white head. Aroma is hoppy and fresh. Taste is bitter, citrusy, a little sweet. Nice. Eructoblaster (4183) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 21, 2011
Bottle - 750ml. Beautiful dark copper body with a lasting off-white creamy head. Fresh hoppy taste with woody and brown sugar hints. Taste is dominated by hoppy flavors and carries grapefruit and grainy notes. Ends with a sharp, long bitter finish. Well done. yumyum (221) - barrie, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 18, 2011
decent brew but nothing exceptional. Pours a nice amber colour with moderate head and lingering lacing. Nice grassy nose and a nice decent hoppiness in the taste. Again mainly hay/grassy flavours.

Pours dark with moderate head. Smells strongly of hops and has some bitterness. Little mouthfeel. Short finish with little to no bitterness. Tessic (1146) - Brantford, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 16, 2011
This ale poured a beautiful amber colour with a medium, bright white head. Aroma’s include hopps, hops and more hopps. Citrus, grass and pine most prodominate.A little malt/caramel and spice too. First sip was mildly carbonated with an attack of bitter hops to the tongue. Flavours of spruce and citrus very powerful. finish is bitter with a sharp spruce flavour lasting on the palate. Pours reddish brown with a thick white head. aroma is floral and hopy, smells great. Nice robust hop flavour with deep sweet malt flavours. this is an excellent brew. If I could find it on tap it could be my new standard. Drinkable and full of flavour. This is a great beer. AWS9 (699) - Mississauga, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 15, 2011
Bottle. A straight-forward, well-balanced pale ale, with sufficient hops and malts. Nice amber pour with decent white head too. A really solid, drinkable ale. No surprises here, but that’s not always necessary. DuffMan (10284) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 13, 2011
UPDATED: SEP 20, 2013 RE-RATE: first glass off the keg tapped at Brothers BeerBistro, Ottawa. Even better than last year. More assertive hop character, deeper, richer malts. Beautiful. (Original rating = 3.6)
Big swing-top bottle shared with Parksy, Davey, and Jeff. Handsome orange-amber body with a bubbly white crown that retains well and leaves drippy lace. Aroma is rich with earthy leafy hops and underlying toasty malts. Fresh hoppy palate, citrus peel and tea leaves, nuances of spice and earth. Very tasty, more English in character than American.
