UPDATED: OCT 18, 2015 A 750ml bottle of the 2013 vintage bought in October and cellared for 6 months.
Pours a dark burnt orange. Fairly thick off-white head. Moderate lacing left behind as drunk.
On the nose there are some definite grassy notes, some earthiness, and a hop presence, in the form of citrus emerging as it warms up.
On the palate, earthy hops, balanced by a nice malt presence and a hint of caramel. Hints of citrus on the swallow.
Overall, this is quite a complex beer, with an awful lot going on. Very hard to pigeon hole from a style perspective, and it seems to refuse categorization. Hard to ask for more from a beer drinking experience, and I will buy a couple of bottles of this, each Fall they produce it.
UPDATE FOR THE 2014 VINTAGE - I Found this to be lighter, grassier, and far less complex than the 2013 version. I would give this year’s an 8 out of 10, whereas I gave the superior 2013 9 out of 10. Word of mouth is that this is the best year ever for their Harvest Ale but I would have to disagree with those sentiments.
UPDATE FOR THE 2015 VINTAGE - The previous year’s grassiness has been dialed back in favour of a much stronger malt presence. Some dark berries cropping up on the swallow. It is a beautiful looking beer too. Quite delicious.

Pours dark copper color, small head. Resinous hops on the nose, caramel malts, hay, toffee, pine needles and some sweet fruits. Sweet fruits and caramel, malts, nuts and resin. More like an American Strong Ale.
75 cl bottle vintage 2013 @ Timo Ationg (7342) - Espoo, FINLAND - MAR 22, 2014
Aroma is heavy and sweet with fruity notes and hints of hay. Flavour is sweetish with resiny notes, fruity hops and caramel. Heavy stuff, closer to an American strong ale than APA. And rather typical one.
750ml bottle @ Timo A. Thanks!Lagerboy (2221) - British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 15, 2014
Pours dark amber orange with a thick white head. Aroma of bready malts, caramely malts, sweet syrup, grassy hoppiness and grapefruit. Taste is malty, bready and hoppy with hints of rye, syrup, spices and syrup. Finish is smooth, malty and stingy with some grassy notes, rye, spices and syrup. A bit unbalanced and stuffy, doesn’t feel very fresh.
750 ml corked and caged bottle. Opaque medium copper, off-white foam mostly lasts. Quite grassy, herbal hop aroma. Grassy citrus hop taste, lightly bitter evergreen, mild spice, yeasty and floral, mild unsweet malt. Average carbonation, medium bodied, more aggressively hopped. Finishes clean and dry. 750ml bottle [2013 vintage]. Hazy, reddish, darkest copper colour with average to huge, frothy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Citrusy fruity, hoppy aroma, notes of blood orange, orange, orange zest, a sweaty, resinous touch, caramel malty basis with bitter almond touch and hints of toffee. Taste is bitter hoppy, dry and minimally tart, hints of grapefruit and blood orange, a touch of hay, cautious malty basis with a touch of toffee. Minimally rough and dirty - really nice. bergenbrewing (24) - Ontario, CANADA - FEB 7, 2014
This seasonal pale ale is pretty enjoyable. Nice large bottle so it can be shared with friends. Nice hoppy aroma and flavor and not overly bitter.
