While the legend of Mad Tom is laden with mystery and intrigue, one thing remains clear: Mad Tom did things his own way. Twice as Mad Tom is an aggressively twice-dry-hopped Imperial India Pale Ale, that delivers a definitive hop aroma & unabashedly big bold flavour. We brew this beer with the road less traveled in mind, and in the spirit of old Mad Tom...we make no bones about it.

pours copper amber with a short lively head of one finger. aromas of floral and citrusy hops, summer fruits and sweetbread. Flavor is complex and well balanced, bold and dry with the malts coming through well amidst a grapefruit base. long lasting aftertaste with a slight nip and bite. excellent as an IPA but was expecting more since it’s a double.

16-ounce can from LCBO in Toronto pours hazy yellow-gold with trace white head and lacing. Aroma: faint citrus, honey. Flavor: pineapple, mango, grapefruit, honeysuckle, sweet pine. Mouthfeel: medium- to full-bodied. Much better than the regular Mad Tom, which is far too sweet.

AfTer trying mad Tom who could resist trying twice as mad Tom. It did not disappoint. More of everything I liked.

Brettsky06 (444) - Manitoba, CANADA - MAY 28, 2017
Orangey yellow pour. Has a strong pine aroma. Taste is very juicy and hoppy. More pine notes again. Lingering bitter finish. Very nice

473ml can, best before 2017-07-01. Pour golden, lightly hazy with a white foam that reduce as a ring. Aroma is resinous, peach and ethanol. Taste is malty, bitter and alcohol. No green hops. Medium body and medium carbonation. Bitter, oily and dry. Long malty and bitter finish.

Pours very bold and bright, hazy gold orange, soft and sticky lacing. Aroma is juicy, dank, malty - orange, grapefruit, caramel, damp leaves - very faint compost note here. Taste is lovely - fruit juice, pine, toast, woody hop bitterness, big bitter hop finish that isn’t offputting. I always liked this one in the past, but I must’ve caught it on the right day for my review, cuz I’m loving this at the moment. Well above the regular Mad Tom, a very good beer in its own right.

Pours a slightly hazy amber with a white head that thins and leaves some lacing. Aroma is citrus and sweet malts. Taste is sweet with a fairly mild bitterness. There are notes of bitter orange rind, sweet marmalade, and pungent pine in an excellent balance. The beer has a very light mouthfeel despite what seems like a full body. Much better than the lesser mad Tom if a bit excessive in its hops.

473 ml bottle. Hazy yellow colour, thick white head. Citrus-fruity, malty aroma with caramel and pine notes. The flavour is malty, with sweetish tangerine and notes of peaches, and a lingering bitter finish of resiny and floral hops. Good stuff.

Orange, small head, orange and marmalade aroma, orange flavor, bitter, mandarine, medium bodied.

UPDATED: DEC 19, 2016 Started a new rating on this one two years after buying this bottle. This double ages really well. The hop profile has changed but not diminished, adding elements of dankness and fruit rind - two great elements for a DIPA in my view. The malt and body have grown in richness with a dense caramel and apricot backbone working well with the hops. Stash away and see what happens!

BillWyce (1086) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 13, 2016
Pours hazy orange-amber with a 1-finger off-white head. Citrus and piney hops aromas over a light note of caramel. Body is a little fuller than medium. Oily, with a dry finish. Resiny hops flavor over caramel malt. Maybe some citrus at the back.
