Wombata (625) - Kobe, - APR 13, 2012
Bottle. Aroma: Earthy, Manuka honey, pear, roasted grain, white flower blossoms. Subtle. Not explosively aromatic like the APAs etc. that feature NZ hops. Palate: Medium bodied. Flavor: Roasted malt, softened by Manuka honey-like flavor and Manuka tea. Orange, and a lingering dry Manuka on the finish. Comments: Smooth, medium-full mouth feel without being heavy. Well-made, though hop heads beware. This succeeds in featuring the Manuka aromas and flavors and any more hopping would over power this character. In this it successfully achieves its goal.

On tap at Brew Craft Beer Pub Tauranga. Slight hop aroma with pine and sulfur notes. Dark amber brown with OK head which dissipates quickly. Mild bitterness with smooth malt body and lingering hop bitterness. Also a slight astringency perhaps from the Manuka. Not bad by any stretch.

Draft at Hashigo Zake in Wellington. Clear reddish amber color with a small head. Aroma is very herbal, wood, berries. Flavor is medium sweet, herbal slight bitterness, stone fruits. Medium bodied, well carbonated. Interesting.

[8223-20160510] Tap. Floral taffy and herbal wildflower cleaner and nail polish remover aroma. Clear, dark amber body with a quick foamy white head and some light lacy lacing. Bitter floral evergreen taffy flavour has a floral sweet cleaner-like finish. Medium body. Interesting but strange as a beer. (7/3/6/3-/11) 3.0

2016-05-10. Crisp dark amber body, modest off white head. Aroma has an interesting almost spicy green herbaceous vegetation character that reminds me a bit of Anchor OSA. Flavour is interesting, green herbaceous character, moderate bitterness throughout. Average bodied palate, good carbonation. Tasty, fairly different. 7/3/6-7/3/15-16 On tap at Brew, Rotorua, NZ.

On tap. Artificial drug store shampoo aroma with a bit of roasted caramel. This is just an experiment which went wrong.

ALLOVATE (3056) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JUN 11, 2014
Pours a deep mahogany, not quite bright, with sparse, fine carbonation. Head settles to a thin pad of tight beige bubbles and manages a thin lace weave. Strange aniseedy, herbal, almost medicinal nose that also shows hints of spruce, stewed rhubarb and mushrooms, Benadryl cough medicine and paperbark. Similar on the palate; medicinal and woody with a complex herbal flavour not dissimilar to Unterberg aperitif. Dowdy, astringent berry finish with licks of aniseed, paperbark and rhubarb. Fades off quickly. Body is medium light with soft carbonation and an oily finish. Not altogether tasty or appetising. Would love to try a fresh sample; this one seems a little beyond its used by. One for a re-rate! (33cL, no date stamp, Cellarbrations Carlisle)

Pyobon (1481) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - FEB 16, 2014
(On tap) Clear copper with slight white head. Nice floral aroma - rather reminiscent of rose petals.Light body and medium carbonation. Taste is light, refreshing and elegant. Slightly honey sweet, floral with a hint of stone fruit and negligible bitterness. Nice easy drinking beer.

chinchill (5226) - South Carolina, USA - JAN 20, 2014
On tap in the beer garden at the brewpub. 4% ABV Deep amber with excellent clarity and a decent head. Feel: Somewhat crisp, with medium carbonation and a dry finish. A tad thin. Aroma: the manuka shows in the very floral aroma that also has a hint of pine. Spicy hops and manuka dominate the finish and lasting, very tasty, and mildly bitter aftertaste. O: Distinct but not challenging. Recommended.

kiwianer (3428) - Otorohanga, NEW ZEALAND - OCT 4, 2013
The head is good, the body goden-brown. It smells sweet- lemon. Taste is lemon, parfumed, fresh, bit hoppy, lemon, bit smoked-lemon, fruity-strange, bit bitter. Ok
