Now, that’s an interesting beer. Not being a fan of witbieren, I still wanted to take a look at this intriguing concoction, as I thought "what? It must be a porter". No it is definitely not. Neither a Dunkelweizen. Dark mahogany with an off-white head, it is quite bitter, with grapefruit and herbal spices covering a shadow of maltiness and high astringency. I didn’t get much of anaroma, by the way, besides that citric splash. Although I am not a fan of this witbier spiciness, it was pleasant on the palate, and the galss was empty in no time. From tap at The Twisted Hop Woolston. Perfect black and white for a moment or two. It really was a beautiful pint. Aromas of mahogany and licorice and flavours of the same. It was hard to discern that this beer had any wheat component. It was sessionable and easy drinking. As the catchline says: the perfect sundowner.
