Our Winter Lager seasonal went over so well in 2011 that we decided to make a year-round beer! Route 66 is a traditional, amber lager brewed with four types of barley, Hallertauer and Willamette hops giving it a crisp, malty finish. 5.0% ABV and 18 IBU’s. My new everyday beer. A favorite among all my friends. Very easy to drink with lots of flavor. Not too strong or hoppy.

Amber pour into pint glass. Earthey and floral in the nose. Nice caramel backbone with a slight earthy bitterness. A hint of fruit in the finish. Has a crisp finish and goes down smooth and refreshing.

Poured from bottle, clear golden orange, good head and lacing, extremely smooth with great body...particularly for a lager. I’m not sure why I’ve waited so long to try this Okie brew. Very chuggable and more flavor than you’d expect. I’m quite surprised by this given several circumstances.

Appearance: clear copper, with a quickly fading light tan head and no lacing. Aroma: toasty, caramel malts, light toffee, hint of cola. Taste: sweet, toasty malts, caramel, light molasses, warm brown bread. Finish: ends with a pleasant, earthy, mellow hops that balance the lingering sweet toast. Notes: Some confusion. Bottle says ’66 American Amber Lager’. Not sure if this is their ’Route 66 American Lager’ or their ’Amber Lager’. Either way, it’s darn good. Comparable to, but better than, Yuengling.

Golden amber color with a thin off white head. Light malty nose. Caramel sweetness with lots of biscuit and toast notes. Clean beer with a nice green hop finish. Full flavored lager.

Poursaniceamber with an average head. Tastes lightly sour and grainy with a bit of earthy ess to it. Lots of flavor for a lager.

12 oz. bottle. Pour is a hazy orangish amber with an off white head. Smell is caramel with some citrus, bready sugary smell. The taste is similar, faint hops malt forward and sweet but with a dry crisp lager finish. Pretty decent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I believe this is now called Mustang Sixty-Six Lager (trademark problems with Route 66?). Has a nice golden amber color and a light malty aroma on the pour. Nice body. Tastes is very clean and sweet, some light caramel and biscuity notes with hints of hops in the finish. Nice flavor for a lager.

AmEricanbrew (6878) - Same Trailer, Different Park, Louisiana, USA - AUG 20, 2013
Clear amber color with ivory head. Floral, herbal, caramel aromas. medium body, average carbonation. Lightly sweet caramel, fruit flavors with toast--lightly bitter finish---not bad.
