3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Growler, from the beer dispensary Apex. Ok aroma, sweet.. malty, grassy, little citrus, on the orange side. Tad hazed brownish orange. Not much head, no lace. Bittersweet flavor. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel, bitter finish. Good. Bit of a yeasty nutty streak as it warmed. Overall , might be my favorite from Mystery. The neck collar doesn’t match the description here on RB. Neck collar calls it a big west coast ipa, much more like description above, maybe that’s the mystery...
Pours rich honey gold with a fast fading white head. Aroma is somewhat malty with notes of rye grain and some mild piney hops. Taste is also malt-focused upfront - almost lager like at the outset - but with a slightly grapefruit bitter hop close. Aftertaste is mildly bitter but the bitterness lingers. This is very drinkable and a good summer brew.

Pale golden pour with a thin creamy white head and striped lacing .... aroma of bready and sweet malts with light citrus notes .... taste has light spice, sweet malts, biscuity/grainy, with light floral and citrusy notes with a bit of overcarbonation .... dry bitter dry hop in the finish. Pint can not date coded but assumed reasonably fresh since it’s a summer seasonal.
A: Almost clear burnt orange with a small well retaining off-white head. A few bubbles seen. Ahh, the remainder of the pour contained all the sediment. So not clear but quite hazy.
S: Sweetish citrus and rich toffee scent. Mainly orange and a bit of pine.
T: Orange zest and pith with an earthy hop note too. Toasted almost roasty brown bread.
M: Medium weight with just enough carbonation. Slight resin on otherwise clean medium finish.
O: I think this does a pretty good job of fusing English and American styles. Not a citrus bomb nor a dirt bomb. Good try.

On tap at World of Beer, Raleigh. Did I even drink this? Totally forgettable, sweet syrupy dark IPA with moderate bitters but mostly overdone floral sweetness. Earthy and malty, like an under-attenuated, homebrewed British IPA.
