Bottle thanks to jleblanc. Clear pale yellow pour with white head. Aroma is earthy, leafy hops, something a bit dank, like mushrooms, very "forest" smelling. Taste is grainy, quite fresh, leafy hop finish with a lingering dry bitterness. Palate is well carbed and medium bodied. Everything you can expect from a good american saison. A towery. dense fine-bubbled white head reigns supreme above the fizzy hazy gold. The very active carbonation carries spicy and herbal hop notions straight to the nose and that spiciness is amped up by furthermore spicyness from the yeast’s phenolic character. I must say I’m not overly fond of the latter which feels a bit rough edged and not all that rustic. At the same time, the yeast provides a lot of tropical pale fruit esters, think litchi, pineapple, mango and while the palate is actively carbonated, that fruity yeast brings forth a certain bubblegummy juiciness that I’m not especially enjoying, prefering earthy and citrusy nuances to explosive esters.Concurrently, the beer is perhaps ironically both juicy and dry, almost very dry. That makes it refreshing enough and fairly easy to drink and in the end, contributes to bringing the beer more toward the like than the dislike spectrum and considering the potential variability with this style, I’ll gladly revisit anytime. Unless the more interestingly rustic Renaud is on the same shelf... Glouglouburp (6103) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 27, 2012
In short: A basic straightforward blond Saison, a bit grassy/spicy, moderately dry, not too tasty, easy to drink.Huhzubendah (3736) - Washington DC, USA - OCT 30, 2012
How: From a bottle at Hill Farmstead Farmhouse Saison Festival 2012.
The look: Cloudy yellow-blond body topped by a medium white head.
In long: Nose is moderately rustic, light spicy-grassy notes, some tart light color fruits. Taste is crisp crackery cereals, low sweetness, pineapples, a bit of dry grassy hops, intrinsic spicy notes, refreshing tartness. Low intensity, high drinkability, moderately dry. A very basic Saison that drinks easy for a 7% beer even if there is a bit of booze showing. Another Saison rating for me, if Waldo was a Saison, I’d find Waldo like, really fast.
Bottle shared by dreadnaught33. Thanks Jonathan.
The beer appears hazy and yellow, with a finger of white head. The aroma offers citrus, spice, malt, light alcohol. Good flavor, with a lot of citrus. Light to medium in body, with only a mild alcohol presence. Faint mustiness and funk. Easy to drink and pretty smooth. A good saison, I would have this again.

Bottle... Hazy golden ale with a mid-sized, soapy, white head. Great retention. Spicy, herbal nose - white pepper is front and center. Medium to full-bodied with champagne-like carb. The bittersweet flavor is a mélange of toffee, herbs, roots and spices. Finishes malty, spicy and tongue-numbing. Thanks to biggsbowler for sharing this beer with the south Florida crew!

Belgian Beer Fest Boston. Hazy yellow amber color. Aroma of straw and citrus. Taste is similar. More boozy than it needs to be. thirdeye11 (6162) - Dallas, Texas, USA - SEP 2, 2012
(750ml bottle during RBWG) cloudy/chunky light orange pour with excellent lacing. Nose of spices, orange peel, and lemon. Taste of spicy yeast, gold raisin, a bit of wheat, smooth, honey, creamy, oily body. KyotoLefty (10603) - Kyoto, JAPAN - AUG 15, 2012
Bottled at the Festival of Farmhouse Ales. Orangish-yellow, quite dark, with a very fine, high head. Malty nose, a lot of biscuits, bread, a little citrus. Really similar to Saison Dupont. Flavor is grass, citrus, bread. Again, close to Dupont. Lacks the complexity and the crispness, but close and likewise very nice.
