While discussing this beer Bryan complained about a diesel truck idling every morning outside his house. Alastair informed him there was no truck idling. It was...The Hum- a low frequency sound found in peculiar spots around the world. The Hum is made with lots of oats, barley, chocolate malt and with First Gold and Chinook hops.

UPDATED: FEB 25, 2018 Dark brown pour with a tan half-inch head. Aroma of molasses sugar. Charred nib and over roasted coffee, almost like burnt sigar ice cream but not as creamy.

At the source: pours dark brown with a light beige head. Aroma is chocolate and some coffee. Taste is fairly bitter for a porter. Lots of dark chocolate. Pretty robust and tasty.

On tap at Underground. Pours a deep brown with cola tones with a medium sized tan head. Roast on the nose, chocolate, cocoa, fruity. Medium bodied, chocolate, cocoa, and some fruity notes again. Odd but I like it. Fruity, roast, chocolate, cocoa into the finish. Slow bitterness. Tasty stuff.

As a global traveller, I am familiar with ’the hum’, a disconcertingly low key sonic intrusion of machine over nature, in odd and seemingly isolated parts of the world, though mainly oceanside (Thank you, U.S. Navy, probably). I’m also familiar with the smell and taste of burnt toast, which are prominent in this brew. When roasty goes burnt toasty. Had this on tap at the Foundry, and found it to be one dimensional in an unpleasant way.
