The nose picks up coffee, toast, burnt sugar, nuts and yeast. Chocolate on the tongue. Gives a reminder of rich Christmas pudding in taste. Beautifully complemented by a port-like touch. Heads stays thick and creamy. Can detect the alcohol but not detrimental. Is better after bottle opened 10 minutes. Classy effort.

On tap at The Union Hotel, Newtown. Pours a deep black with brownish tinge and a tan head. Aroma: nutmeg, malt, brown sugar, root vegetables. Taste: molassus, nutmeg, brown sugar, caramel, ginger. Mild toffee and earthy flavours as well. Quite tasty for a brown ale. Very nutty mild funky flavour. Definitely a great beer! Patersoi (165) - AUSTRALIA - MAR 18, 2017
Pours lovely chocolate brown with creamy head. Soft mouth feel with plenty of sweet malt up front. Hazelnut and chocolate in the middle but not too sweet, with vanilla and Evan almonds in the finish.

330 ml bottle from Hawthorne Cellars. Pours mahogany with small tan head. Malty aroma. Flavour is strong malt, maybe a few different types, with some hops in the background and some subtle sweetness. Very smooth and almost silly palate.

UPDATED: FEB 10, 2016 Bottle: 330ml. Served at room temperature.
Pours a hazy dark brown (almost black). Head is small, foamy and tanned; mostly diminishing with no lace. Aroma is strong, sweet and malty with rummy fruitcake, dark chocolate, burnt toffee and hints of coffee. Flavour is rich, smooth and malty with rum and raisin chocolate, coffee, caramelized dates, hints of liquorice and a light earthy bitterness. Full bodied with soft carbonation, an oily texture and a long finish. Amazing stuff!

2014 release, aroma is very light, mildly wet cardboard, but then the taste is rich and figgy with a warming alcohol sweetness. Pleasant amber brown colour. Will have another of those
