Sasparilla body with a light mocha creme head. Restrained, but appealing nose of Pacific Northwest hopping with touches of pine, and a lovely chocolatyness. Body is on the sweet side, chocolatey and with some C-hoppyness (Chinook/Cascade/Columbus?) evident. Overall, some nice components, but the sweetness is a bit to far out of whack. This would undoubtedly improve with some bottle aging and about 7% higher attenuation. savnac (2656) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - JUL 3, 2013
Draft @ Collins Pub. Dark brown, nearly black with a creamy light tan head. Aroma of pine, citrus, coffee and chocolate. Flavor is bitter hops and roast with some chocolate and caramel sweetness, no alcohol taste. Medium body with a creamy mouth feel. Very good beer, fresh, hoppy and roasty. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - JUN 14, 2013
Draft at ncbc. Pours black with a dense and creamy dark tan head. Plenty of lace. Big roasty nose with sweet blast of pine. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Roasty sweet piney mid palate. Fresh and forward and dimensional with real balance. Lovely. Long sweet resiny finish. nealblind (1975) - Seattle, Alabama, USA - JUN 11, 2013
Almost black. Smells of chocolate-buttery. Tastes like chocolate milk-beer. Some acrid slightly salty flavors. Leaves a char like dry mouthfeel. riversideAK (6265) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - MAY 27, 2013
Nose of dark roast, some caramel chocolate sweetness, piney herbal hops are big and noticeable. Some citrus as well. Pours black, tan head. Flavors of roasted malts, dark chocolate, and big herbal piney hops. Chewy dry finish. Nice black IPA.
