Pint @ Naked City $4.75. Definitely more porter than IPA. Hops are present, but only just so. Feels over-carbonated but that may just be because I just came from the dentist. Finishes rather bitter. Would like to try again when I am not sick. 22415brewery (379) - Washington, USA - FEB 20, 2012
The menu declares it as "Cascadian Dark Ale" in style, it’s a very decent drink for a Robust Porter but unfortunately it does not live up to its CDA designation. Pours a deep dark black, minimal foam, no notable highlights. Aroma is roasted malt, some cereal, dark cocoa, and a distinct citrus but very faint. Flavor upfront is hops, passionfruit and old orange peel but is quickly quelled with a smooth dark roast and medium caramel sweetness, hinting at dark toffee. The hops although distinct fade very very quickly and there’s a certain sweetness and roast that overpowers it in the finish. Again, a very enjoyable brew but could definitely benefit from a more defined hop profile in the flavor and bitterness. bu11zeye (13140) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - OCT 10, 2011
(Draught) Pours an opaque black body with a medium beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, pine, and lightly burnt grains. Flavor of roasted malt, grass, pine, and caramel with a dry, bitter finish.

Draft at NCBC. Pours jet black with a loose wispy tan head. Big roasty piney nose, got that dark malt + hops thing dialed in perfectly. A little sweet in a slightly cookified way, but unlike any cookie you’ve had. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Roasty dark mid palate with appealing dark pine and spicy hop notes. Resiny finish. Great easy drinker. BillKismet (4103) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUN 26, 2011
Coal black, hopped chocolate head that retracts rather swiftly. Not much of a hop nose, but lovely black-patent burned charcoal essence. The body as well is apportioned more like a porter than a black ipa. Good stuff.
