On tap at Brouwerís Hard Liver 2011. *Crazy* light pour for a barley wine - orange, cloudy, like a DIPA. Smells like a freshly peeled orange in a hallway that just received a fresh coat of paint. Boooozy. Flavor has citrus rind, some caramel, and plenty of booze... this is just too much.

My Bottom Line:
This very bitter Barley Wine develops citrus fruit and pine within muddled honeyed malts.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the cloudy light amber.
-Aroma was rather simple, especially in the malt department.
-Alcohol offers warmth and not too much disagreement.
-The prevalent sweetness was sadly not accompanied by diverse malt flavors.

Tap at Naked City. Hazy dark amber. Light head. Sexy malt flavour with alcohol kick. Clean for a Barley Wine.

Big sweet and hoppy nose. Lots of residual sugars, doughy sweetness, english hops. Pours hazy golden, thin bubbly head. The flavor is super hoppy and rather sweet - pale sweetness, fruity notes, big english hop bitterness and earthy peppery flavors round out the finish. Lingering sweet/hoppy. Definitely american take on barley wine not unlike old crusty. Good stuff. Drinks well/hides alcohol well.
