brown sugar with some hoppy spruce elements. dark brown pour. Not overly flavorful, a touch too bitter perhaps.
Draft at the brewpub in Seattle.
Pours a dark amber, almost brown color with mahogany edges and a two finger beige head that slowly settles into a lasting cap. Streaks of lace left behind.
Vinous dark fruit aroma with a subtle dark malt presence and faint boozy sweetness. Hints of raisin, plum and fig followed by smokey meat, chocolate and caramel.
Finally some sweetness!! Tried five of their beers and this is the most balanced. Vinous dark fruit countered by roasted and sweet malt notes with subtle boozy sweetness in a dry, spicy finish. Hints of grape, fig, plum and raisin followed by caramel malt, toffee and peppery spice. Well balanced and easy to drink. Faint booze flavor but the ABV is nicely balanced. Tulip glass @ Taphouse. I assume this is what I’m drinking, though it is called Duplicity. Slightly fruity/pruney taste. Malty base. Decent dubbel.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a dark red/black color with a swirl of a white head. A sweet chocolatey nose, spices and dark malts. Sweet and fruity, smooth chocolates, light spices. A fruity and spicy dubbel. Enjoyable. trevor211 (1681) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUL 12, 2009
Draft in a Chimay glass at Naked City. Pours a reddish brown with a dense, off-white head. Sweet, smokey malts, some Belgian yeast, with a dry finish. Undercarbonated, but it has a nice, bitter, woody finish. Lots of fruit and brown sugar, as well. Enjoyable, but it needs some stronger notes to offset that bland bitterness on the finish, and it needs a little more carbonation. bitbucket (2165) - Kirkland, Washington, USA - OCT 29, 2009
Pours clear brown with a thin off-white head. Sweet taste of spice and brown sugar. bvc (1242) - Washington, USA - JUN 6, 2010
Draft at Naked City. Pours a very dark walnut brown with little head. Non asseritive nose with touches of banana esters, raisin, caramelized sugar and units of phenol. Light medium feel with small even carbonation. Dark fruit, plum, raisins backed by banana esters and hints of pineapple. ABV is well hidden in the taste however. riversideAK (6261) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - JUN 7, 2010
Nose is mostly banana, alcohol, some darker fruits. Pours dark brown/copper hued, soft head and lace. The flavor is also full of banana, like a banana flambee or whatever. Light roast, caramel, chocolate as well. Noticeable alcohol at times, sharp carbonation. Sweet and estery/phenolic.

On tap at Naked City... This pours a dark brown with a nice bubbly head, some red hues, blah blah blah, it is a nice looking beer. The aroma is spicy with lots of fruity yeast, some dark fruit, banana, sweetness in a nice undescribed kind of way. It smells malty, fruity, and good. Tastes spicy, lots of yeast esters, banana, clove, sugar sweetness, toffee, bananas flambay or whatever... it is spicy, sweet, yet drinkable and tasty... Bubbly carbonation leads to a vibrant spicy character... nice sweetness... good shit going on... I have heard that these dudes can brew tasty beers... I am not really a fan of Belgian Dubbels, but this was nice and I would drink it more than once...I’m a ticker...
