UPDATED: APR 1, 2013 Deep copper color with a short loved off white head. Sweet grainy nose. Sweet beer with a rich malty flavor. Some burnt caramel, toast, and an almost apple butter taste. Tingly on the tongue. Easy drinking double bock. jb (3221) - Rochester, New York, USA - MAR 31, 2012
On tap at Tap and Mallet. I was not expecting much from this, an upstart NY company taking on a tough German style. But they did a pretty nice job with it. My nose never works as well in a bar so would love to try this at home somehow. Not as complex as some, but not bad. Poured dark but clear, with reddish highlights and a nice tan head with minimal retention. Malty notes dominate the nose, a bit of sour esters. Creamy sweet palate that stays nice and sticky. The mouthfeel is syrupy and perfect. Delectable. Ron (3922) - Rochester, New York, USA - MAR 29, 2012
On tap at Tap and Mallet. Pours an dark brown color with a medium tan head that has good retention and some lacing. The aroma is sweet with roasted malts and molasses. The flavor is similar to the aroma, plenty of molasses, brown sugar, licorice and dark roasted malts. The mouthfeel is full and creamy smooth.
