Bottle at Micro Bar, Reykjavik. Seems to me that this is a sort of dark wheat beer with a Belgian yeast, though I don’t think there’s any wheat in it, that’s how it comes across to me. Old brown fruit, red grapes, mandarin oranges and banana esters with malt that comes across like bran muffin. A yeasty, muddy banana and spiced bagel character comes through when it opens, and Flintstone Vitamins / SweetTart candies round out the yeast contribution. So it’s phenolic, prickly and acidic with a lot of messy fruit esters and a muddy yeastiness. I’m thrilled to see Saison attempted in Iceland, this being the first one, just sad that I don’t find this one palatable.
330ml bottle. Reddish amber beer, medium white head. Nose is sweet, Belgian yeast, caramel. Flavor is slightly dirty, caramel sweetness, Belgian yeast. Sugar and dirty notes in the finish, more Belgian yeast. How is this a saison? More like a cheap and sugary Belgian ale. MBlessing (1630) - Württemberg, GERMANY - SEP 30, 2017

0,33l Flasche. Trüb oranges Bier. Schöner hoher Schaum. Alkoholischer Vanille Duft. Etwas Weinbrandt und Holzfass. Antrunk. Holz, Hefe, Katamell. Nicht rund. Abgang recht trocken. Juks (1200) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - FEB 6, 2017
330ml bottle from local alco store in Reykjavik. Pours hazy amber with thick beige head, doesn’t last very long, but leaves nice lacing. Very aromatic, weird tartness, witbeer-ish, yeasty aroma. Taste is malty and dry. Very dry finish. Some grassy and floural notes. Medium bodied, extremly dry, average carbo. I like dry beers, but this one is surprising even for me. Almost nothing to do with saison here. mauritsio (1013) - FINLAND - JAN 14, 2017
Bottle from Iceland. Orange with medium head. Fruity, yeasty. Sweet, fizzy.

Orangey, large tight head. Simple belgian ale aroma, a bit like a leffe, something on the grungy side of the genre, but without the quite as much sweetness as leffe. Taste similar, quite grungy, a bit of iron and liver, a little sweet. Full palate, pleasant carbonation. Finish a bit metallic and dirty. Not a saison by any stretch of the imagination. Belgian yeast definititey dominating, but this is just a dirty leffe, which is different from a saison. Does vaguely covery the alcohol.
330ml bottle. Hazy amber color. Medium size, white head, stays. Yeasty, fruity, sourish, plastic and white currant in aroma. Grainy, yeasty, sweet, sugary, alcohol, straw in taste. Sugary, caramel and straw in aftertaste. Soft carbonation. Alcoholic and sugary brew. Rask0lnikov (1577) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - SEP 17, 2016
330ml bottle. Amber colour. Thin white head on top. Hints of grass, sweetness, candy sugar, yeast in the aroma. Caramel, sweetness, yeast, alcochol, flowerness in the taste. Slightly grassy, bitter, alcocholy palate. Quite, stron rather sweet, medium bodied beer. Far away from the essence of farmhouse. martjoobolut (5347) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - SEP 17, 2016
0,33L bottle, BB 09.06.18 (from Koht). Pours dark amber with whiteish beige head. The head stays. Aroma is sweet, malt, belgian yeast, spices, fruits, slight butter. Flavor is sweet and bitter, malt, spices, fresh fruits, sugar. Finish is burnt sugar and dry. Carbonation is on the high side. Overall: ok-ish belgian strong ale, but no sign of saison (or "farmhouse ale" as label claims) .
