3fourths (9406) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAY 26, 2015
UPDATED: MAY 28, 2015 Bottled March 6, 2015. Hazy amber gold with a billowy and lasting white head. Quiet apricot-peach-floral fruity aroma with fainter touches of grass and marijuana. Medium-light body, citric and pulpy and zesty, a little yeasty/doughy, likely a tad too disturbed on its journey. Gorgeous filling mouth feel of expansive fine carbonation. Mandarin orange and white peach fruitiness lasting into a citric-acidic, bitter and gripping finish. Another superbly drinkable hoppy Belgian ale from the master of such beer. It’s not the ideal pairing of hops with their house strain (that would be Taras Boulba and Runa), but it does all the little things right. It’s elegant and soft in texture and aroma but assertive in bitterness, malt is backgrounded by the strong hoppiness, but still provides some toasty-biscuity accents, and the rich and savory texture as well as sugar level are perfectly suited for the carbonation.

Bottle at Bagby. Cloudy yellow with a million nowflakes in suspension. Funky haystack aroma. Taste is solid funk black pepper sourdough bread. Amazing.

Bottle at Bagby Beer Company. Pours cloudy and particulate gold with a medium, creamy white head, long retention. Aroma is moderate earthy and spicy hops with medium cracker and Pils malt. Flavor is moderate earthy and spicy hops and bitterness with light cracker and Pils malt with a crisp, dry finish. Light body and moderate carbonation.

Cloudy golden with a lasting white head. The aroma has that inviting spicy-fruity De La Senne character, along with grassy-herbal hops. Dry, fruity and spicy flavour with a somewhat heavy, unpleasant grassy hop character. I didn’t have a #5 to compare to, but I’m either not a fan of freeze dried hops, or just Perle in general...

Bottle @ work. Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of tangerines, bread crust, hay, grass, citrus, light cloves. Taste is tangerines, light cloves, dry and bitter finish, light grassy, light citrus, great De la Senne character! I had this a couple of days ago, and I was not impressed. I don’t know what happened since then, but this bottle is awesome!

Bottle at home. Pours cloudy with a white. Aroma of mellow fruits, honey dew, light bread, grass, citrus, nice fruity ester, light yeasty. Taste is rather bitter with tons if citrus, honey dew and bread. Waow world class.

330mL bottle from Texas Liquor. Hazy bright gold pour with thick foam. Perfect lacing. Near skunky aroma with super grassy hops, freshly mowed grass. Taste is clean and dry, simple with mild pineapple. Big carbonation, aerated. Refreshing, crisp. Biting grassy bitterness through the end. It loses same of that house yeast character I love in the aroma. Overall, de la Senne once again proves they are the masters of well-hopped Belgian blondes.

SkillsFactory (737) - ITALY - MAY 24, 2016
Corpo medio-leggero, mediamente carbonata.

Bottle at LKS Heights, 14/04/16. Hazed pineapple yellow with a moderate off white swirl. Nose is light peppery spice, yeast esters, lemon drizzle, musty. Taste comprises lemon Lockets, straw, grain, honey notes. Medium bodied, light prickly carbonation, semi drying close. Not great.

Bottlshare at Mr Smith’s pad. Thanks to Matteo. Hazy gold beer, thin pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and very dry. Reasonable carbonation. Bitter floral yeast. Touch of lemon. Dry bitter seltzer. Dry finish. Marginally more fun than a mouthfull of sand.
