3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAR 26, 2015 draft in a croc at Landgasthof Rittmayer in Willersdorf. pale semi-dark gold body, best I can tell, with a frothy, rocky, foamy white head. faint spice and mineral in the nose with lightly bready malt and herbal-lemon hops with a soft soapy touch. round, full, frothy texture; creamy with soft, low carbonation. mostly dry and a tad too starchy, but it remains wonderfully fresh, tangy, spicy and zesty with a pungent German hop finish. the yeast doughiness seems to blur and meld the components together. Update: better shape in March 2015 than in previous years, but Lieberth is known to be inconsistent and quality can vary substantially batch to batch... Cross your fingers that the batch you try is lagered long enough, otherwise the harsh body and soapy hop character becomes brash.
On tap at Landgasthof Hotel Rittmayer, Hallerndorf, 6.10.17. As Rittmayers Hausbrau U.S Helles Kellerpils. Stain mug, no appearance. Slightly smoky, some nuts and roasted salty almonds in the nose, sweet and a little bitter in the mouth, with nutty and toasty notes. Medium body, medium bitterness and toasty mouthfeel. Am I rating this in the right place? ippopotamo36 (2623) - Rome, ITALY - JUN 7, 2015
At the source in Rittmayer Landgast, Franconia-Germany. Pours orange color going amber brown, medium foam slowing fading away. Nose: light diacetyl, butter, corn notes and pop corn. Mouth: medium-high carbonation, confusing and not that round. Some sour final notes, citric too. Not the best example from Franconia. fonefan (52351) - VestJylland, DENMARK - FEB 25, 2015

Crock stoneware at Landgasthof Rittmayer, Nov. 2012: Color indeterminable. Frothy, lasting eggshell foam. Charming nose of dusty, candyish yeast, licorice, peach jam, cookie malt, apricot, and vanilla cake. Minuscule note of soured fruit. Soft, fluffy and natural on the tongue. Mouthwatering dose of minerals and spicy hops meld with feather-light, yet beefy and profoundly deep, dextrins. Dazzling hop character deposits a zesty, peppery bitterness and a hint of hard lemon candy. Touch of breadcrust lends additional firmness to the predominantly fluffy, fresh and haylike, Pils-driven maltiness. Spiciness is masterfully synchronized with the understatedly earthy, fallen-leaf character that pokes through. Rustic breadcrust accents persist, beautifully complementing the dusty yeast signature. The core is replete with succulent ripe-peach fruitiness and elegantly layered with a splash of nectar-filled hops. Late palate-scrubbing mineralic charge is laced with a leafy and rich, wood-root-spice hoppiness which gradually spawns its tongue-hugging bitterness before being gracefully softened by a deep, creamy malt close. A very special beer that exemplifies artful balance and attention to detail.
Truly magical, as are all of Christian’s divine creations. Dedollewaitor (16543) - Odense, DENMARK - JUL 12, 2011
