bubbleflubber (2227) - Swannanoa, North Carolina, USA - JUL 8, 2017
Pours from the bomber, this release is 8% ABV (2016-2017 winter seasonal). The almost opaque ruby-hued black pour has a nice choco-tan head that reduces to trace lacing. The nose is spot-on for dark chocolate covered cherries. Flavors are dominated by a tart Willamette Valley cherry (sour Bing notes), accompanied by dark semi-sweet chocolates and cocoa, finishing with a lightly bittered cocoa and lingering sour cherry. The medium body and easy quaff are enhanced by soft carbonation and warm, round mouthfeel... making for a juicy, complex semi-sweet/tart palate. The smooth pull allows this to go down very quickly, and without inhibition. A very nice take on the chocolate-covered cherry, in liquid form. This winter seasonal will keep one warm on the coldest day, or makes for a superb aperitif before dinner. Nice job on this offering.

Bottle. Black pour with a tan head. Aroma of milk chocolate and cherry syrup. The flavor has chocolate and some cherry with a roasty stout. Not bad, but a lot of others have done the cherry chocolate stout thing better.

tnkw01 (1753) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - APR 1, 2017
Bottle. Dark brown in color with a small single finger, light tan head. Aroma is mostly mocha-chocolate with slight hints of cherry. Taste is also mostly chocolate. Best way to describe it is if someone mixed a nice stout with a Mikes Chocolate Cherry alco-pop.

nearbeer (5422) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - MAR 17, 2017
650 ml. bottle with no date stamp labeled 8% not 7% as currently listed. Pours deep brown-black with a spongy disc of foam. Smells of baker’s chocolate, caramel espresso and char. Hints of cherry appear later. Tastes of dark chocolate, cherry, caramel, toasted oats and dark roasted coffee. Long aftertaste has faint earthy-spiced cookie, like a mild gingerbread. Near-medium body is a little watery but that just makes this one less sticky and more dangerous. Smooth with low-medium carbonation.

A solid not-quite-dessert beer. Excellent nose of high percentage cacao chocolate and sour cherries. Flavor follows suit. Not a sweet beer. Burnt wood smokiness, extra dark chocolate and ver earthy sour cherries combine to deliver a very interesting take on a chocolate stout. I enjoyed this one very much. Dark reddish brown. Small wispy light brown head.

Bottle. Poured dark reddish brown color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with very good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted chocolate malt, cherry aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted malt cherry flavor with a medium to heavy dark sweet finish of moderate. Solid brew that met my expectations.

Bottle shared by b3shine. Pours a thick black with a beige head of foam. The aroma is musty wine and chocolate. The taste is pretty sweet. Thicker mouthfeel, low carbonation.

22oz bottle, thanks to b3shine for sharing. Labeled 8%; 42 IBU. Near-black color. Kind of brown around the edges, slight red. Thin light brown head. Dots and bits of lace. A lot of cocoa nib on the nose. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, lightly soft, lighter carbonation. Light slick finish. In the flavor, cocoa nib, some dark chocolate, hint of coffee, and some dark fruit. Moderate bitter taste, light to moderate sweet. Moderate bitter taste taste. Light to moderate sweet. Kind of tart. Solid stuff. I’m intrigued by it.
