chinchill (5476) - South Carolina, USA - SEP 1, 2017
22 oz bottle from NC served in a Belgian shifter.
Pours with a clear copper body topped with a durable and creamy off-white head.
The aroma features medium malts and earthy hops. The flavor follows. Mildly bitter up front but turning moderately bitter in the finish and aftertaste.
Medium body and carbonation. nearbeer (5752) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - FEB 4, 2017
650 ml. bottled October 2016. Lightly hazy orange-amber with a huge sponge on top. Nose is mild but pleasant with some lemongrass, dry cocoa, toasted walnut and caramel. Flavors of toast, lemongrass, nutty toffee and a touch of spiced apple. Finish has notes of dark bread, toasted oak and cocoa powder. Near-medium bodied with a bit much fizz at first, but let it settle and it becomes a smooth easy drinker. Interesting brew that’s a delicately balanced mutt-mix of an ESB, amber and the barrel.
