22 from the brewery. Tan lacing. Not a lot of head. Thick and viscous. Bourbon hard and sweet on the flavor. Not a ton of alcohol bite and mainly just the sweet flavors. Aroma is thick malt roasted. Flavor is bittersweet chocolate. Some bittersweet notes on the finish. Subtle though after all the bourbon. One of the better ones I have had from them to date.

Pours jet brown, with decent tan head. Aroma is rich, notes of wood, malt, and whiskey. Taste is smooth but complex; malts, raisins, and whiskey notes. This is very good BA RIS. Thumbs up!

650 ml. Ebony with a disc of spongy foam. Nose of cocoa, oats, soy, piquant green herb, salty sea breeze, char and cookie dough. Tastes of the same mix. Long finish shows a bit of toasted oak. Heavy body is rich and a bit sticky, but not sweet. Smooth mouthfeel with low-medium carbonation.

Bottle from Appalachian Vintner shared with Tmoney99. Pours dark brown to black in color with a medium plus sized khaki colored head. The aroma and flavor have big roasted malts, cocoa, nutty, good wood character, dark chocolate, a hint of coffee, the 10% is there, but is pretty well integrated, oak, dry, medium plus body, nice beer.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured a dark brown color with a largel frothy brown head that diminished slowly with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted chocolate, alcohol and wood aroma. Medium to heavy dark sweet malt flavor with a medium to heavy sweet and small alcohol bite finish of moderate to long duration. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a standout beer.

UPDATED: JUN 7, 2015 On tap at the brewpub in NC. Opaque black body with a durable, light brown head that leaves ample sticky lacing. Aroma: Mild bourbon barrel with sweet dark roasted grains. Flavor: Superb! Excellent BB aging effects lift an already excellent RIS to a near heavenly level. Feel: perfect? creamy smooth, medium body with just the right level of soft carbonation.
