poured dark, nice lacing, very nice porter.Compared to other Imperial porters this one is a great choice
Holy hell. Wasn’t expecting to find a delicious Napa Smith pint today, but damned if Bonfire doesn’t fit the bill. Giant roasted mocha notes backed by subtle chocolate and raisin sweetness, anise and char forming a powerful undercurrent. Finishes semisweet and smoky, with a lingering bitter fade. Beautiful pour, deep brown-black with a beige head and ample lace. Big roasted coffee nose, and the texture’s perfect, silky with no boozy warmth whatsoever. Finally a good Napa Smith beer. oh6gdx (26485) - Vasa, FINLAND - OCT 10, 2016
Bottled (backlog). Deep coppery brown colour, close to black, with a mediumsized beigeish brown head, that leaves some lace. Aroma is liquorice, coffee, some roasted malts, ashes and mild toffeeish notes as well. Flavour is toffee, some liquorice, roasted malts, mild berries, some ashes and mild chocolaty notes. Keg at the tap room, 01/02/16.
Black with a decent tan head.
Nose is light roast, charr, liquorice, cocoa beans.
Taste comprises toffee fudge, chocolate, roast malt, molasses, liquorice.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close.
Ok drinkable number but lacks any depth or complexity for the ABV on offer. phaleslu (10554) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - FEB 28, 2016
Draft at the brewery, served in a flight. Pours a clear amber with an off-white head that settles into a ring. Notes of chocolate, caramel, toast, nuts, brown sugar, and some floral hops. Light-bodied, with medium carbonation and a sweet, earthy, faintly bitter mouthfeel. Suffers an identity crisis, in that it can’t commit to anything. Draft - Roast and not much else. Deep maroon with a light brown head. Roasty and a bit of sweetness and caramel with a perfume finish.

On tap @ Napa Smith. Cola colored beer with a tan head. Plenty of roasted malts and toasted nuts. There’s a little bit of a dusty note to it. Slight banana. Maybe sort of a chocolate covered banana to it. Lots of cocoa powder. A little on the acidic side. It’s fine, but a little bitter and ashy on the finish for my liking. mR_fr0g (13225) - Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 1, 2016
Draft a the the brewpub. Dark amber reddy coloured pour with a luhjt tan head. Aroma is sweet berry, hint of smoke flavour is composed of red berry, raisin, nutty toasted grains. Burnt earth. Palate is quite sweet, moderate carbonation. Grainy. Leighton (22084) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 1, 2016
Draft at the brewery taproom. Pours clear, rich amber with a creamy tan head. Lightly toasted bready malts in the nose, some ripening fruits, mellow earth. Medium sweet flavor with notes of grainy brown bread, berries, orange peel, brown sugar, medium bodied with average carbonation. Lightly warming on the finish, more toasty brown bread, mellow earthy bitterness, hints of toffee and cocoa. Not bad. Homer321 (5170) - Melboring, Florida, USA - FEB 1, 2016
Draft at source. Strong chocolate area and faint coffee. Deep reddish brown with minimal head. Taste is strong chocolate wort a bit of acidic bite. Decent. Would like more chocolate and a smoother malt presence. JulienHuxley (5910) - Sherbrooke, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 1, 2016
