On tap at the brewpub. A clear one, golden in colour and with a small, white head. Subtle ginger aroma, as well as some fruit notes and pale malts. Spiced, ginger flavor, but balanced, leaving room for the malts and hops. Not much bitterness, but it’s not necessary either. A bit thin in the palate. A well brewed ginger beer. 130807 bhensonb (15235) - Woodland, California, USA - OCT 28, 2012

Bomber from the Coop in Davis, CA. Dark golden color with a fizzy/frothy white head that didn’t stay very long. Aroma is strongly grassy over grain. Near medium body with frothy little bubbles. Flavor is grain with something like saaz. Slight touch of fruit. There seem to be pepper bits. It is astringent. My mouth wants to pucker. This is a slick product. There is no down side, except it’s a wheat beer. I wonder if this is being produced at the former sake brewery at HiWays 12 and 29?* And if so, are they using those brewers? These ales seem as well crafted as Budweiser. Not to say I’m recommending Bud, but AB does have the craft down pat. These guys seem to too.
