Palme (5024) - Bergen, NORWAY - AUG 12, 2016
Sampled from a 0.33l bottle @ Haandfest 2015. This has been added quite a lot of spices! A ton of allspice, cloves and yeast. Big and totally unexpected aroma in a tripel. Not bad though. It’s sweet, warming and spiced up in the taste also. They have to have added a ton of cloves in this. Thick and almost a little syrupy in the mouth while it’s just about average on the carbonation. Apples and something herbal. Green yeasty melon before it ends in a strong warming tail. Not bad at all 30.05.2015

orange, cloudy with a thin layer of white foam, soap and poor retention in glass. The nose gives off a pleasant sweet aroma, hints of caramel, yeast, sugar, spices, earthy aromas and fruity notes reminiscent of bananas and grapes are appreciated. In the mouth enters sweet, he has a mild acidity, somewhat dry, highlight shades of caramel, sugar, earthy notes, honey, bananas, tropical fruits and flowers. Medium bodied, low / middle and end sweet, dry and persistent carbonation.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 26C). Bottle 33 cl - Batch 14281. AROMA: predominant spice aroma of clove from spice aditions. Slight citric note. Background of slight sweet malt. APPEARANCE: light amber to amber and slightly hazy. Small off-white head with low retention. TASTE: a blend of clove, slight citric note and a sweet-malty background. low bitterness with a slight sweet aftertaste. PALATE: medium-low body with a slight texture. medium-low to low carbonation. slight astringency. OVERALL: altough an enjoyable Tripel, it has little bitterness for the style.
