BOTTLE 25 CL as a gift from omhper. Clear ruby-brown, fast diminishing tan head. The aroma is fruity jammy caramel malts and salty cheesy smoke, just a touch of alcohol. The taste is medium sweet caramel malts with a good dose of earthy peat, just a touch of warming alcohol. Rich yet easy going down the throat. A good one.

Bottle, courtesy of the brewery. It’s a hazy chestnut colored beer with a minimal sized light beige head. The aroma is quite smoked and bonfire-ish, with dark dried fruits, caramel, some fruityness and a vague note of anise. It’s full-bodied, lightly warming and smooth on the palate. Caramel, peat, bonfire, smoked ham, prunes and figs, caramel sauce, bread crust and a good dash of brown sugar. Some bitterness detected. Lasting sweet and bonfire-ish finish.Sure a nice one, even though it’s not quite common to have a smoked barley wine. 170826

Bottle. Dark reddish brown with tiny off white head. Fruity and smokey tones. Malt, fruit, smoke and hops. Full body with a bitter / smokey finish.

Pilsnertest (296) - SWEDEN - JUN 27, 2017
Bottle at home. Now - this isn’t a proper Barley Wine, it’s more of a smoked beer but still not a proper smoked beer. Rated as a barley wine it fails on some parts. But as a smoked beer it’s probably one of the better I’ve tried. Even though it’s not correct. Taste is thick, sweet and buttery with hints of smoked shrimps, whisky, fudge, dates, vanilla and some tobacco. Light bitter ending. A lovely smoked beer! :)

(Draught at Bishop’s Arms Folkungagatan, Stockholm, 29 April 2017) Dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, oaky nose with caramel, oak wood and dried fruit. Malty taste with notes of caramel, dried fruit, oak wood, vinous hints of whisky and a gentle spicy bitterness. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and quite well balanced for its strength. Nice one.

Murky brown color, small brown head. Aromas of dried figs, raisins, juniper, smoke, wood, syrup and malt. Taste of smoked meat, juniper, dried figs, wood, candy sugar and alcohol. Complex and interesting taste.

Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer. Bardzo fajna kombinacja torfowej Whisky i kompotu z suszonych śliwek.

Sample at ACBF 2017. Dark royal purple color, thick off white head. Aroma of peat, burning leaves, dark fruit. Taste is rich, vinous, peaty but not overwhelming, complex and characterful. One of my favorite at the fest.

@ ACBF 2017. Donkerrood fruit, mout.
