Draught @ Bishops Arms: Järntorget on October 9. Pours reddish, copper, black with a small gray head. Smell is sweet with lightly roasted malts, juniper and some alcohol. Taste is sweet with honey, lightly smoked malts, some wet wood and there’s also some juniper that has a subtle acidity to it. Finish is sweet and malty. JensenTaster (1719) - DENMARK - JUL 11, 2011
Ryebread, sent of smoke and turf. Get huge on liqurice-side in the taste, not so powerfull yeastinfluence. The beer ends rather thin, makes it very drinkable. Well composed beer. Ungstrup (37652) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - APR 17, 2011
Draft. A red nut-brown beer with a thin tan head. The aroma is sweet and acidic with notes of malt, caramel, and bread. The flavor is sweet with notes of bread, alcohol, malt, caramel, smoke, alcohol, and wood, leading to a dry woody finish. AlbertC (277) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - MAR 31, 2011
Aroma is tobacco, spices, nutmeg, caramel. Taste is tobacco, caramel, some sourness, hop of EKG type and some bitterness in the end; all in perfect balance and truly a complex taste profile (I hate to use that term, but this time it’s justified!). chibuck (3513) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 28, 2011
I had this at the brewery with Hans, bottle into a Narke glass.
The beer pours a super dark mahogany wood, light tope hope rises about two fingers giving nice retention and lacing...This dubbel has three herbs added and initially the aroma is very medicinal. After a minute and with the benefit of fresh picked juniper branches and berries I can tell you the medicine smell is juniper mostly with some other herbs. Typically this kind of smell is too much to take but this perfectly balanced with some smoked malt which cuts the flavor. Light smoke is there from start to finish and its really nice and doesn’t stop the drinkability at all.
This is an old style of bill tried to make moden. Not my cup of tea, but it you want a decent tasting grut style beer this is worth trying.

Draught at Haket, Göteborg.
Ruby brown colour with creamy head. Sourish cheesy nose with juniper and the slightest of tropical fruit zest. Really fruity flavour with elegant smokiness and notes of chocolate, juniper and a cheesy sourness. Lively, full-ish mouthfeel with sweet maltiness. Low elegant bitterness. Taste: licorice, Ferrari candy, sweet malt, (red)currants, smoke, red wine, some tartness. Pretty full-bodied. Really nice, with lots of candy flavours. ekstedt (6786) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - DEC 5, 2010
Draught at café 3 små rum, Göteborg, Sweden. Dark reddish brown, medium beige head. Smoke dominated aroma, hiding any belgian yeast character. Smooth moutfeel. I really cannot see the point with doing a smoked belgian ale. Nisse666 (7433) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - NOV 27, 2010

5 Weird mushroomy marmite aroma. Slightly vegetal and very savoury. Quite scotch maltiness.
4 Very dark reddy brown, tiny ring head.
7 After the weird aroma, this was remarkably good. Basic core taste is the a very thick heavy scotch ale. A bit of chocolate, and some obligatory slight wooliness. Pat says like it tastes or penis.
3 sweet and sticky palate, gentle carbonation crispens it a little. Feels heftier than 6.8%, but not alcoholic, it’s the sweetness and maltiness.
13 Pat tried to put me off, but I actually liked this. It was nice to sip, and its quirkiness doesn’t count against it.
