Beautiful roasted coffee/espresso aroma with some soft chocolate and a bit tar. Bonfire. Soft sweet cognac notes. Very elegant. Complex.
Wet wood, a bit meaty.

250 ml bottle @ Akkurat. Pours black with a tan head. Coffee, dark chocolate and hints of dark fruits, vanilla and oak. Flavour includes roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, cognac and oak. 250mL from Akkurat in Stockholm, Sweden. The pour is near ink with a smaller, deep tan head. Not too much retention. Leaves sheety, tan lace. Aroma is raisin and dark fruit heavy, light olive, heavy bitter roast and coffee, burnt black cherries, flank steak, fatty steak, fruity/melon notes, sweet porter notes that is identical to De Molen’s dark beers. Smells similar to Heaven & Hell or Misto BA. Taste begins very sweet and burnt cherry heavy moving to dirty bitter, raw cacao, coffee, lavender, cinnamon, allspice. Palate is milky, soft, rich, bitter, sharp. Gets a little olive in there. Don’t get much cognac out of this one but more fruitiness. It’s nice, but I wouldn’t miss it.

Big thanks to lagomsweden for sharing this! The pours is dark and silky smooth with some ruby tinges at the edges. The nose is woody, very dark chocolaty, and lots of wine/cognac notes. Thanks to Darren (lagomsweden) for sharing this gem. Pours deep brown with a finger thick dark tan head. Huge wonderful nose of coffee, dark chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor is incredibly smooth and balanced with the same influences as the nose, with the addition of a long and lasting finish, ending in what seems to be toasted marshmallows. A huge treat. Had this beer at the 2nd edition of the Molen beerfestival. Coffee dark chocolate with some hints of cognac. The taste however, is somewhat less balanced than the regular version. There was some very light sourness, strong coffee, dark chocolate, darkfruits, and again some hints of cognac. The mouthfeel seemed thinner than the regular kaggen!. Overal a very very nice beer, however, I would always prefer the regular kaggen! over this one. The regular kaggen is so much more balanced and creamy in the aftertaste! still great beer though

Sampled @BBF 2010. Yet another amazing Imp Stout from the guys in Sweden! The cognac is smooth, well balanced throughout with hints of oak. Very nice.
