Roll out the Barrel: 5.0% Alcohol by Volume and 12 IBUs. A classic American lager and the workhorse of the Gansett stable. Available all year long in bottle, can and on tap! Quality Supreme: We brew our lager with six row malt, seedless hops, corn from Iowa, our lager strain (the same one the brewery has depended on since just after Prohibition), and the purest water from Lakes Ontario and Hemlock. Taste & Enjoy: This beer is brewed just right for drinking—crisp and refreshing. It’s got more flavor than other premium lagers, yet it’s one of the most drinkable beers in the world. Narragansett has the highest rating of all domestic premium lagers on BeerAdvocate.com, and received the bronze medal for American Lagers at the 2008 World Beer Cup The History: The Lager is old reliable. It was the first beer brewed by “The Original Six” back in 1890, the bestselling beer in New England from the 1930s to the 1970s, and the official beer of the Boston Red Sox from 1944-1975.

Contract brewed by High Falls Brewing Co. for since 2007, the production moving to City Brewing in La Crosse, Wisconsin in 2009 and then to the City Brewing plant in Latrobe, PA in 2010. It is anticipated that production may be returned to Rhode Island in the future.

Has a clear, bubbly, medium yellow appearance with a fair amount of head that lingers for a while. Nose is malty and a little skunky. Smooth & light-bodied. Has balanced sweetness & bitterness, but is lacking in overall flavor and aroma. A textbook inoffensive beer.

can @ Cork 'n Bottle / Crescent Springs KY --- Clear medium-light amber, ivory head that stops at a full cover, lace streaks. This may be the best of the old regional brewery pale ales - mild malt with a little clover and honey, medium fizz, and light hops in a medium-length finish. Enough flavor to satisfy, no noticeable adjuncts, and balanced.

12 oz bottle. Bread biscuit and grass smells. Pours bright gold with a big white pretty persistent head Lots of lacing. Crisp with some character. Super drinkable Slightly sweet mostly malt with veryt little hops bite but still balanced. It has been around so long because its good.

Surprised I’ve never officially logged a rate for this one. Clear golden pour with white head that dissipates and fades. Medium to bright carbonation on the palate. Light bready malt notes, soft spice and not too much else going on. Nothing super offensive.

Blah. A boring pale lager almost worse than the macros. Aroma was weak. Stale lager smell. Pour was a clear light gold with a one finger white head. Taste was just like a macro with a little more substance. Not much flavor with a sweet finish. Mild carbonation.

16oz can at War Mouth. Pours clear pale gold with a foamy white head. Aromas of bread, sweet malt, corn. Flavors are similarly grainy, sweet malt, light hops, yeast. Light bodied with a short sweet finish. Much better than I expected, definitely a step up from the usual macros of the world, especially given the price. Need something to drink on a hot day that you don’t want to think about too much? This might be it.

UPDATED: JUL 22, 2017 This stuff is very cheap, like 8 bucks for a 16oz 6pk. But honestly compared to macros of the same style its pretty good! Sweetish pale malt and corn aroma. Clean crisp taste; corn and a slight malt sweetness. A little chalky taste in the back end. Heavier bodied than the average beer of this style. Non offensive. A good session beer

Solid American beer. Much better than any of the "usual suspects". Outstanding value for money.

Jabic (635) - Plainfield, Vermont, USA - JUN 19, 2017
Ar: Pale crackers, some sulfur and corn; herbal, lean hop aroma. Ap: Golden and crystal clear; medium-large white head with moderate retention, leaves a nice cap of streaking foam and some trains of froth on the glass sides. T: Clean crackers with a bit of sulfur up front; the slightest hint of corn, with a bit of sweetness; a little toast; bitterness is medium-low, with a touch of herbal hop flavor; finish is a bit of chalk, more cracker malt, and a clean bitterness. P: Medium-light body with high carbonation; finishes dry. O: A refreshing American pale lager; has some flavor to it, while being overall quite clean and understated; well-made and easy to sit back and drink.

Pours a clear golden color with white head. Aroma is alcohol, and cereal grains. Tastes like corn and cheap alcohol. Dry. Light bodied. Finishes with mostly cereal grains and aluminum ding.

freekyp (2363) - Thomasville, North Carolina, USA - MAY 27, 2017
Lightly corny aroma with some graininess. Pours striking golden. Small wispy white head. Clean and crisp. Not offensive.
