Roll out the Barrel: 5.0% Alcohol by Volume and 12 IBUs. A classic American lager and the workhorse of the Gansett stable. Available all year long in bottle, can and on tap! Quality Supreme: We brew our lager with six row malt, seedless hops, corn from Iowa, our lager strain (the same one the brewery has depended on since just after Prohibition), and the purest water from Lakes Ontario and Hemlock. Taste & Enjoy: This beer is brewed just right for drinking—crisp and refreshing. It’s got more flavor than other premium lagers, yet it’s one of the most drinkable beers in the world. Narragansett has the highest rating of all domestic premium lagers on BeerAdvocate.com, and received the bronze medal for American Lagers at the 2008 World Beer Cup The History: The Lager is old reliable. It was the first beer brewed by “The Original Six” back in 1890, the bestselling beer in New England from the 1930s to the 1970s, and the official beer of the Boston Red Sox from 1944-1975.

Contract brewed by High Falls Brewing Co. for since 2007, the production moving to City Brewing in La Crosse, Wisconsin in 2009 and then to the City Brewing plant in Latrobe, PA in 2010. It is anticipated that production may be returned to Rhode Island in the future.

16 oz tall boy can. Aroma is very sweet and yeasty. Definitely some banana notes as well as some DMS in the nose. For what it is, it’s not an offensive aroma. Pale golden color with a fizzy small white head. Biscuity, corn-like sweet malty start which persists a while. Nice malty body in the middle and is not overly thin and fizzed. Finishes with a bit of dry bitter hops. Not too bad or offensive.

this brewski was a great way to kick off a Wednesday night at a bar. Beer was smooth and complemented food well. Great appearance. Would go out of my way to purchase again!

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2017 Nice clean taste. Good beer at a good price. And most people have never seen it so they think it’s some high end craft beer.

This is my go too beer.....Great price...Good taste....and has a kick of just short of an ice beer..I'm 60 and remember when my Uncle would visit from New York ho made it a point to order gansett ale....When I reached drinking age .I would get gansett in GIQs ( 40 oz bottles) then Falstaff closed the Cranson brewery from then on Gansett stunk....However the new owner hired the last remaining brewmaster to recreate the lager and I'm greatfull he did with every glass out of our Kegerator takes me back to my younger years....it's a great working mans beer..not fancy just satisfying

Good lager. Clean and crisp with a bit of hop flavorings - applied well. Golden body is beauty. Hose is pleasently light. Solid lager.

16 oz can. At the Timo A's Maritimes Tasting.
Clear pale golden color with a small white head. Malt and apple juice in the aroma. The flavor is paper, malt and cardboard.

47,3 cl can @ Timo A’s Maritimes Tasting. Thanks!
Aroma is quite nothing – perhaps some sweet malt and starch. Flavour is also quite nothing with malty tones, starch and some mild hoppy tones. Close to some American lagers without any taste.

473 ml can @ Timo A’s Maritimes Tasting.
Pours clear pale golden color with a small head. Hay and grainy notes on the aroma, herbs, earth and faint lemon. Flavor is grassy, clove, starch, some grassy hops too. Bland.

can @ Cork 'n Bottle / Crescent Springs KY --- Clear medium-light amber, ivory head that stops at a full cover, lace streaks. This may be the best of the old regional brewery pale ales - mild malt with a little clover and honey, medium fizz, and light hops in a medium-length finish. Enough flavor to satisfy, no noticeable adjuncts, and balanced.

12 oz bottle. Bread biscuit and grass smells. Pours bright gold with a big white pretty persistent head Lots of lacing. Crisp with some character. Super drinkable Slightly sweet mostly malt with veryt little hops bite but still balanced. It has been around so long because its good.
