Pours a clean copper amber with one finger of sticky off white head. Nose is grainy with some sweetness and herbal hop character. Lots of off flavors, grassy with some diacetyl. Grainy, with some bitterness.

an ok little creamy beer. Refreshing on an hot afternoon in downtown greensboro, bit lacking in palate and character but did alright in a warm NC afternoon

On tap at He’s Not Here in Chapel Hill. Clear amber in color with a small but lasting white head. The aroma is caramel malts, toffee, and biscuit, rather bready with only mild hop presence. Caramel malts on the flavor with biscuit and toffee and maybe some mild citrusy hops, although they are faint. Medium body with average carbonation. This beer fits the definition of "average" - nothing exciting about it but nothing offensive.

Pours a deep copper with a nice white head. Medicine aroma. Not much flavor until the finish which is like aspirin. A pretty beer, but not one I liked tasting.

Pours a mostly translucent amber with a medium bubbly off white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee and hint of spicy hops. Flavor of toffee, nuts and caramel. Hints of some spicy hop notes. But mostly a toffee malty beer.

12oz bottle pulled from the cooler. Dark pour, with a medium body and a bit of sediment. Moderate head, with some decent retention. Nose smells malty, a bit oily too. Mouthfeel was medium, perhaps a bit slick. But the taste is more fragrant and hoppy than feared. Decent enough.

UPDATED: AUG 28, 2016 On tap at Packs tavern. Faint malt aroma. Pretty amber opaque, some lacing. Toasted malt flavor with nut and toffee notes. Crisp dry hop flavors as well. Creamy feel. Not bad.

On tap at Natty Greenes, Greensboro NC on 13 July 2006 (noted at 4.8%). More copper than amber in colour. There’s a restrained flowery hop character and a touch of caramel malt. Clean and easy drinking. Less happening here than the APA. Respectable enough but not very inspiring.

This is like an amber ale dueling with an APA. The amber starts out ahead in the nose, but then the APA gets a foothold and hops start to take over. But amber prevails with a biscuity, caramel assault in the finish. Great beer to drink, my favorite from Natty Greene’s. First tried at mini-beerfest at Durham Art & Science Museum, Science of Beer event.
